Install on 2 computers?
I tried to search and I could not find info on whether or not I could install SONAR X1 on my laptop and on a Stationary computer also? 1 to use on my laptop when I come up with ideas but am not ner my stationary system and then one to record the guitar tracks Vocals, Drums etc. I see with Toontrack I am allowed 2 authorized computers as losng as I don not use both at the same time lol. Thanks, I was just talking with a Guitarist friend and I could not recall if SONAR X1 allowed me to have 2 computers authorized simultaneously.

I have no idea how many computers you can use your license on but I do have X1 installed on my desktop and laptop. So that makes at least two.

According to the License Agreement I was just looking over (During install), for Sonar X1 Essential... I am only alowed to have this product installed on one computer, without buying additional keys/whatever there called. It may be different for other versions of Sonar (I doubt it), and there is also is that power-wasting USB key thing that doesn't work on multi-core processors. The USB-key-thing may be different for the License Agreement thing.

I asked this a while back; Cakewalk Response: "You can install our software on up to two machines, as long as you are not running it on both systems simultaneously. If you want to run Cakewalk on more than one machine at a time, or more than one user will be running the software at any given time, you will need to purchase a full license for each machine. Just use the same serial and registration code you were provided originally" Although I wonder how would they know when two computers were running similtaneously, I would say disconnect both from the internet and they couldnt know?!?!? The licence makes the greater concern that of how many machines the software is used on simulataneously. If you have one licence then you can only use on one machine. You can however install the software on as many machines as you like as long as you comply with the above. If you want more than one user at the same time then you need that many licences. This is what we have always enjoyed about Cakewalks licencing and copy protection procedures. They don't hinder the honest user. It is also the reason that Cakewalk users frown so much on pirates.

jeffb63 Indeed. Support the bakers so they don't have to resort to the dreaded dongle! +1,000,000...... Awful dongles ONLY succeed in annoying JUST legitimate users.... a paradox...! Cakewalk products registration management is the BEST out there... you do it just once per product, and that's it.... no hassle for the legitimate users.... that is fair.... Thus they deserve respect.......................

There is no way for them to know that you are running it on more than one box, because Cakewalk has made Sonar non-invasive. THANK YOU CAKEWALK. That said, they've given me the go ahead to install on multiple computers as long as I'm not running it on both at the same time. It's all about the spirit of the license. I actually own 3 copies (purchase 2 for two studio computers that do run at the same time with another engineer operating it) and a copy came with the vstudio 700 which is just sitting around :) but yeah, please Cakewalk, NEVER create copy protection. You'll only severely piss off us legitimate users and everyone on pirate bay will STILL get working cracked copies in a matter of minutes.

Sorry to dig upi the past but I had the same question... which was answered here, and here at the " Product Registration FAQ": http://www.cakewalk.com/register/faq.aspx Does this limit the number of times I can install my Cakewalk product? You can uninstall and re-install the software on your computer without having to worry about re-registering or being locked out of the software. Per the End User License Agreement, your purchase of the software grants you the nonexclusive license to have one person use the software on one personal computer at a time. If you want to use the product on more than one personal computer at a time, or if you want to network the product, you must obtain separate licenses from Cakewalk. If you have a second computer that you use on occasion, such as a personal laptop you use when away from your desktop, you may install the product on to the additional computer. You do not need to register the product again, simply use the same registration code tied to your account that has been generated for your unique serial number. Note that per the EULA, the software must only be running on one computer at a time unless you have purchased an additional license.

Your question was already answered in one of the above posts. Just use the same serial and registration code that you were given when you registered the software.

A GREAT many users of Cakewalk software have a great deal of appreciation for the Cakewalk company being kind enough to allow the non-simultaneous use of their products, meaning as long as you are only using their products on a single machine at a time, it can be installed on more than a single computer. It is a matter trust by them, in part, and is greatly appreciated by the Cakewalk users - many of whom have to deal with those #%!(*!#%(* dongles, or other means other companies use to limit use of their software. So - enjoy, yes you can install on your laptop and on your desktop, just honor Cakewalk and never betray the trust they have placed in you. Make sure you support them, through honest use of the software, and honoring your agreement, and Cakewalk will do its best to provide the best software they can. :) Bob Bone
