Installation of the 2nd VS-700R and SONAR 8.5 PE recognition

Hi all, I have just installed through the normal procedures as instructed in the manual the 2nd VS700R to my already installed and working VS700C and the 1st VS700R.

The stand alone modules of the I/O together with the Device Manager shows that there is a second interface, however when selecting the input from Sonar 8.5 PE, the second 700R unit is not shown. I am using a Vista 64 bit system. Can some one help me to identify what I am missing please to have the channels of the second unit recognised in SONAR please?

regards
Noel

Check your audio drivers in tools, options , audio...and see if you have in the input drivers for the second 700r selected... We can work from there :-)

Hi, thanks for this. I did check but it is not shown, however it is recognised in the I/0 editors as 2 separate interfaces. Thanks, Noel

When you installed Sonar, did you check the "editor for a second vs-700r" or something like this, at the very bottom of the list?

If your not shure, insert the Sonar 8.5 cd, run it, choose costum installation and uncheck everything but the box concerning the second I/O.

Do you have it hooked up via ADAT or USB? Obvious question but if you have it hooked up ADAT, you'll be looking for your ADAT inputs.

    Hi Noel,

Make sure you have SONAR's driver mode set to "ASIO" and not "WDM/KS" or other. This configuration only works in ASIO driver mode. In SONAR 8.5 and earlier this setting is found under Options | Audio | Advanced.

Aside from that, make sure you have configured the DIP switches in your second VS-700R correctly.

More information on setting this up can be found on page 166 of the VS-700 Owners Manual here: http://www.cakewalk.com/s...-700_Owners_Manual.pdf

Hi Ryan, thanks for this. When I selected the ASIO driver as instructed, the input drivers could be seen in the drivers window but couldnt select them. Can you help me please?

Hi Ryan, I have noticed that an M-Audio Audiophile 192 was creating this conflict and disabled it. Hence the two VS-700Rs are now recognised. However, while running Sonar, can I run Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra and get a separate output to have it as an audio instrument in Sonar please?

    Thanks for your patience.
