Installation with Command Center
Hi all, just wondering if when installing the Platinum version using Command Center you can specify where sample content for applications like Dimension Pro and Session Drummer 3 are located, or does it automatically place it in a predetermined folder in the system drive? In the Command Center video it appears that everything is done automatically with one mouse click. Assuming the sample content for instruments in X3e and Platinum are the same, is there a way to chose not to install Dimension Pro and Session Drummer 3, or does Command Center detect the existing applications and their content and not install them? Thanks, Paul

It automatically selects a location. If you already have a previous product that has a custom directory specified, it will magically adopt it and install there. Otherwise, you should download the installers from your Cakewalk Account and run them directly. This will run them in an attended mode, where you can choose custom paths.

To my knowledge there is no reason to install Dim Pro or Rapture if you have them from X3.

Thank you both for your replies. Just some further clarification would be appreciated. Can I omit the installation of Dim Pro and Session Drummer 3 using Command Center or do I have to use the installers and run them directly? I like the idea of Command Center but this is the scenario I'm worried about; Command Center detects a previous version of for eg Dim Pro and detects a custom content path, it then loads a duplicate folder of content in that specified path. I would hope that upon detection of the duplicate content it would not install it. Can any of the early adopters confirm how this worked out for you? Thanks, Paul

I can't speak for Session Drummer 3, but you can simply choose not to install Dim Po in the Command Centre. I only installed Sonar and Craig's FX.

I may be wrong but I think SD3 is part of the Sonar install where Dim Pro is independent. If it is already on your system its likely it will overwrite the old install thus no extra disk usage.

Both Dim Pro and SD3 are in the feature list of Platinum so I assume all instruments and content are installed from Command Center. In the video it shows that you click one button to install the whole program including all relevant instruments, processors, content etc. I'm sure you're right about it not installing duplicate content, however I may use the installers just to be safe, unless someone else who has already installed Platinum can confirm. I installed Platinum several days ago from C3, and, as I stated, chose "not to install Dim Po in the Command Centre. I only installed Sonar and Craig's FX." I was unsure only about Session Drummer 3, as I have not used it for sometime, so could not be certain if it installed with the core program or not without checking.

Sorry to butt in, but I have a question about the command center as well.......Tomorrow being the official release date (1/21/2015) When I get home from work... will my new shiny version of Sonar Platinum be glaring on my connected products page since I fell for the pre release purchase thing? I hope so. :)

What I am saying for clarity is its bundled in one of the instrument collections. Its not a choice you can make of it on its own. And because its not separately listed you don't have a means to install it alone.

Melodyne Essential is an independent install so no you don't have to install it.

Again for clarity. When I say "independent install" I mean it has its own item listing in the Command Center.

The installers have been reorganized and each one installs are small portion of the full Platinum package. If the machine already has X3 Producer installed, all anyone needs to install are SONAR Platinum, Anderton FX Chain Collection and SONAR Help and Tutorials (if the local help file is desired). No need to download any of the other packages.

Alright so you CAN cherry pick certain elements of Sonar to install when using Command Center, thanks for this.

Sorry for my misinterpretation, now I understand that Dim Pro is a separate installation and can be deselected in Command Center. Thanks again, Paul
