Installing PACE ANTI PIRACY software on my X1 system - Please warn me!

Folks,

I've just bought the VCC RC-TUBE and have just got my first iLOK2.  During the Driver setup for the ilok2 its asking me if I wish to install PACE ANTI VIRUS software.  I chosen "NO" and have quit install fior the moment.

After doing some googling on PACE, I see many peeps have various issues with it and it seems there is no uninstall feature.  Some peeps have had all sorts of pain with this software but has anyone here any experience with it?

There was a time when the iLok stuff (PACE) was a nightmare for DAW users.  That's just not the case for the majority these days.   Many of us here use iLOK without any problems whatsoever.

So, yes, you will see all kinds of "old news" stories on Google, etc., but I think a modern DAW well tuned will have no problem other than the occasional random problem that some user somewhere is bound to have.

No problems here. Just use the latest drivers from iLok. There was a time way back when Pace had issues with some systems but those days are long gone.

Yeah - works well here.

Tip - always check the ilok home page for latest updates. Some vsts provide the older versions on their cd/dvd drives.

I got the RC Tube also. No problems with PACE in Win 7 64bit.

I read all the horror stories and stayed away from iLok until being reassured that it was all old news. I got an iLok 2 to run Ivory 2 and I have had no trouble whatsoever.

I've been screwing with this damn iLOK2 for 3 days now with no luck. I've done everything EXACTLY how the instructions say. iLOK.com will not recognize my iLOK. Client Manager and Driver software are installed correctly and my pc recognizes it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled 3 or 4 times with no luck. Even tried this on another pc. Anyone have a suggestion ? thanks

I assumed you rebooted, right??  :)

However, here's what I did that worked:

1- BOTH iloks were in my system (and recognized);
2- I went to ilok.com and did a "move" (NOT TRANSFER!) and choose from ilok 1 to ilok 2 - and confirmed all went well via the response on ilok.com;
3- I rebooted (and removed ilok 1 at the same time);
4- All was, in fact well.

So I don't know what you may or may not have done differently-  but if any of this helps, let me/us know.

Although iLok's site is sometimes glitchy and/or doesn't see what it should (I've had it, for instance, see two of my three iLoks...but not the third...couldn't get it to see it now matter how many times I went back to the site, logged in, and let it try to find them...then I simply switched usb slots with one of the ones it did see and the one it didn't and Viola!!...all was right again.)  But even tho the site can sometimes be flaky you shouldn't be having this kind of trouble.  So you are saying that you have...gone and registered an account at iLok with your specific user name and password...then registered your Slate VCC AT SLATE and provided them with your user name at iLok so they can send your license to iLok...then downloaded and installed the VCC to your VST folder...then logged into iLok with your username and password...and iLok does not "see" and then show your iLok?  If it does see your iLok you then need to update it to the latest drivers...then download your VCC license to that iLok...log off iLok...reboot your DAW open Sonar and rescan your plugin folder to make sure Sonar sees the VCC and be good to go.  Is this, more or less, the procedure you followed??

BTW, keep in mind ILOK is stating that it has some compatibility problems with some versions of Firefox (and perhaps others) - so make sure you can eliminate that as an issue.

I've never had a problem with the iLok site personally, but on my DAW I keep version 3.x of Firefox for just such things.
