Installing Plugins

Hi,

I'm trying to install a couple of audio plugins to Sonar 8.5. Never done it before.

Is the correct way to copy the .DLL file into the folder 'Shared Plugins' ? I assumed after doing this Sonar would then scan it when you loaded it up but it's not showing?

Sorry if I've done this completely the wrong way! Any help appreciated.

Martin

    Hi.
You have to 'tell' Sonar to look for plugins in folders 'outside' Cakewalk/Sonar folder.
You do this in 'Preferences' menu in the VSTPlugins section.

If by audio plugins, you mean VST plugins, then I believe most people have a VSTPlugins folder (often in Program Files, or Program Files\Steinberg depending on whether you use any other DAW.

Sonar's very flexible in allowing you to define the folder where you store your plugins. Preferences, Files, VST settings. You then need to scan the folders.
