Installing S6PE and S7PE with S8.5PE installed possible...?

I have some old projects I need to work on but Sonar 8.5 makes a mess of those: a lot of VSTi's are not recognized or 'not installed' according to Sonar while they really are! (I can make new instances of them in those old projects and they work: however simply redirecting the old tracks to the new instances isn't enough because every VSTi's loads with its default settings...).

So I was thinking about installing S6PE and S7PE... maybe the projects will open fine in the versions they were created in...? But of course I am afraid that doing this will make a total mess of my S8.5PE installment (overwriting newer plugins with older versions etc.).

Is there a chance this could work or not...?

Sonar 8.5 PE, Edirol FA-66, Behringer C-1. All instruments in my songs are VSTi's.

yes, you can install all of them.  the only problem is that file associations will be set to the last one you install.

also you could do a custom installation of only the plugins you need out of 6 & 7.

But it won't mean that new version of for instance Sonitus effects will be overwritten by old ones...? If file associations is all, there is no real problem (I never double click on a file to open it).

actually, yes, it will mean that if you have older instances of sonitus, for example, it would overwrite with the older version.  but you can do a custom installation and choose not to install sonitus from 6 & 7.  that's what I meant by doing a custom installation and only installing what you want from each of them.

and as far as file associations - if you do a custom installation this won't be an issue, but if you install the full version of 6 & 7 then the installation will ask if you want to associate file types with each installtion, just uncheck everything for installations of 6 & 7 and the file associations will stay with 8.5.
