Installing Sonar 8.53 with X3 question

I finally have a trimmed down system after re-formatting my OS drive and loading software. So far I only have X3e, Reaper and SF loaded from all the previous versions/daw softwares. Hoarding music software can be a problem here sometimes...  :) So far, the computer/ softwares are running great and I'm resisting the urge to load a couple of other daw softwares I own.

My question for some of you that have both 8.53 and X3e installed is simply have you noticed any conflicts or PC problems with both installed? I would like to have 8.53 on this PC just because I like using it every now and then. But I certainly don't need it bad enough to have issues. What do you think?

Thanks,

Dave

    That shouldn't be a problem.
Many of us have multiple versions installed, and they are separate entities.
    On my laptop, I have SHS6, Sonar 8.3, MC5, X1, and X3e installed.They get along fine.
I don't use them all, but it's nice to have them available when someone has a question about an older version.

My only slight reservation is that it might have been better to install 8.5.3 first, then X3

Doing it the other way around runs the risk of newer shared files being overwritten by older versions.

Best to install earlier versions first.

Specially, if like me, you use a common vst folder for all and every.

And if not, stuff (presets, vsts, multi-samples) will be in a minimum of 15 folders, scattered all about the house.
    ----------------------
And at the least, the most recent installation appears to always change the default version for double clicking cwp files.

    ------------------------
Please CW manager dudes:  when I choose to install Sonar to c:\sonar4, put ALLLLLLL files related to Sonar in the SAME FOLDER.

Nothing should ever be put where users cannot find it.  Nothing a user can modify should ever be put in a hidden/buried/system folder that is NOT part of EVERY backup software's default paths. user\appdata\roaming\cakewalk is a way stupid place to put anything:::: fur shur NOT user saved presets.

should be fine. I ran X2 for a while alongside 8.5.3 so that I could still get work done while I tried to get used to the new interface. Gonna be doing this with X3 pretty soon once I get around to installing it
