Instrument EZD and Kontakt5 changing places? SOLVED

But the midi in the drumtrack stays the same but is now a kontakt5 bass, I think you get the picture.

This happens randomly in a Project made in the latest update of Bandlabs Cakewalk where I am using a lot of tracks with software instruments, very annoying!

Have this happened to anyone else? And is there a solution?

8gb ram, lots of space on HD, intel I5-3450, 970Gfx, M-audio fast track C400, Behringer UMX490 keyboard. Latest drivers for everything!

The UMX490 had problems, no sound, recognized and setup correctly. Restarted Cakewalk and got sound but in the wrong track. Doublechecked, removed all "in" on every track except the track I wanted to record. Same problem again.

Other than that, everything is working fine :)

Ok, 2 problems but the 1st one, instruments changing places, is the main problem!

I have not ever had that happen and I use a lot of VSTi plugins including the two you mention.

There were issues when EZD2 was released.
IIRC 2 introduced 16 vs 8 stereo pairs?
That thru all midi instruments off?
EZD2 has a “Sonar” mode IIRC.
    Someone will weigh in.

Ok, could you please explain? Is the problem solvable?
In Sonar I'm combining 2 instances of Ezd2 in 2 tracks, one instance of Sampletrack 3 and one of Battery. Total of 4 tracks in a try to get a unique drum-sound.

Not at my computer, but yes, I think there is a way to load EZD2 in Sonar mode.
This was covered in detail back when. Unfortunately if I didn’t “subscribe” to the threads at the time...
The search function on our forum is useless.
Again, on my phone so I can’t help today.
IIRC I reassigned instruments and that was that, a nuisance, but there you go.
    Someone will weigh in.

Thank you, I will try to find it by searching the internet. If someone here knows the answer how to change EZD2 to Sonar mode please help me out.

I think I found something, is this what you meant?

" agree that Toontrack did a poor job with this release, and the support was disappointing.  I will say that I was able to resolve the issues (so far, at least) by doing the following.

    1-Completely uninstall EZDrummer
2-Reboot, do not start Sonar, and re-install EZDrummer 2 AND ANY UPDATES.
3-BEFORE OPENING YOUR DAW, open EZD2 in stand-alone mode and select the Sonar option from the menu in the upper right.
4-Now when you start Sonar and when you open a project, you will get a dialog box asking how many outputs you want.  I always choose 8.  I'm not sure what others do, but I never need more than 6 EZDrummer tracks, so 8 seems to be good.

I can't say what will happen to you, but many of us found this to work well.

I made a huge mistake by not setting a Windows Restore Point before first installing EZD2.  I will never make that mistake again.  I now set a restore point before I install anything—and I name it something meaningful like "Before_MiniV" or "Before EZD2" or whatever."

I'm going to try the above and keep my fingers crossed.

    That would be right.
I don’t think I re-installed, but that was some time ago.

Ok, I tried to reinstall, open EZD2 in stand-alone mode, but No sonar menu on the upper right menu.

Well, I opened Sonar and started a new project the Sonar option appeared in EZD2 and I could choose the first time I choose the VSTi EZD" how many outputs I wanted. Only worked once.

So I closed Sonar and restarted it, opened a new project and it worked again as above.
So I hope my problem is gone. I will work on the project where I first noticed the problem this weekend and then I will know for sure.

Partly solved, if not playing on the keyboard Umx490 at the same time as editing in Sonar everythting seems to be ok. Don't know why, reisntalling EZD2 might have helped a lot :-)
