These are classic guitar tones for a heavy metal instrumental.  The mix is pristine and very spacious, and the performances are spot on.  Pretty good demo; which plug ins?

    All the best,

Mix sounds very nice here, well balanced lots of space and definition to hear all the component voices, good job

Nice demo Alisa! Mix is nice and clear, maybe a little over-compressed, but it suits the style just fine. Your guitar work is very well done, and the other instruments add excellent support. Great job!

    Soundwise ,

Your demo / song sounds very nice .

Your tune is very good example of a modern sounding recording where a guitarist is doing classic style shredding .

Hey, Amplion free sounds pretty good!   I've messed with it some but it never did much for me.  I think you've done a great job getting something good sounding out of it.    Loved the squeals and legato lines... is that a Tele?

Thanks for listening and sharing your thoughts, guys. I appreciate it.

No extra compression was applied. Just sparingly used Limiter#6 on Master bus, with signal barely touching thresholds. It's the nature of extremely overdriven sounds that is perceived as compression (which it is in a sense). I didn't even compress bass or drums, just applied some EQ and that's it. )

AmpLionFree sounds amazingly good. I've tested it against all major competitors and it turned out to be the second best among Rectifier amp sims.
Well, it could've been Tele, but no, it is my new Micheal Kelly Patriot Glory. Beautiful guitar.

To sound like Eric Johnson I probably need to learn how battery cells affect the overall tone. But thanks for this comparison, that's inspiring.

    Thanks, Mesh!
I tend to use CA amps, as they are perfectly set-up and tuned for a wide variety of styles and genres. But I've been doing a lot of research and testing on different sounds and plugins and had recently discovered this little gem with huge sound. And it's easy to use, which is always the best part for me in any software.

    Nice Jam love the drums

I love them too. I think IK's HP drums are underestimated, probably due to demos using a too much reverb, that, in fact, can easily be dialed down, revealing very well recorded drumset.

This has got a nice vibe and I liked the use of panning with everything having its place. Too many times these days you hear demos recorded with everything bang centre or with a limited sound stage.

I dug the song, good pro sound to my ears.  I listened last night and didn't get a chance to comment, so I'm going by memory here.  (Can't play soundcloud files here at work...damn Nazi's)

Drum sound is ok, but doesn't sound like a drummer playing.  The hi-hat work and snare give the game away.  Not much you can do about the hi-hats, I don't think, but the repetitious double smack on the snare every 4 measures doesn't sound like a real drummer.  I can also tell the same general beat is re-used a lot.  This may not matter for what you're doing, though.

I only notice this stuff because this is exactly what I struggled with doing synth drums trying to sound like a real acoustic drum track.  You have to actually play the drums in your lap as you write or your fill-ins and percussion is going to sound funky to a drummer's sensibilities.  Not sure about John Q Public, so your mileage may vary.

Bass drum sounded pretty good though, including the toms and ride cymbals - better than I've ever been able to get using MIDI and soundfonts.  Snare and hi-hats just have that sample signature about them.

Hey, nice demo tune indeed. I agree with the idea of dialing down some of the reverb on the snare.

What most impressed me about your mix was the backing stuff tucked under while your guitar lead was a'shreddin' . . . you had some arpeggiated guitar noodle repeating sometimes, and at other times, sounded like a synth pad, both of which could have muddied up your guitar solo, but they didn't.

Did you somehow eq carve space for them, or do something with mid-side processing? It came out nice and clear. Well done there . . .

    cheers,
    -Tom
