Interesting Problem

I am trying to get MC5 to load on my old DAW, and it does not have a DVD rom, just an old CD rom. Anyone figure out how to move the install from the disk to a non interent computer? I tried a thumb drive last night but it said it was write protected and could not load. Hmmmm Herb, didn't you have a similar issue once?

I used my daughter's computer to copy the disk to a USB drive and loaded it from there.

That was back on the first incarnation of my Dell that had some corrupted files in the OS. After a reinstall it loaded fine from the DVD drive, but if you don't have a DVD drive.... a USB stick would be the option.

What said it was write protected...?  The MC5 DVD or the stick? The DVD should be copyable without any problem.

All I did IIRC was a direct 100% copy of the DVD to the stick.... then I popped the stick in and the program was easily installed from it.

Looks like the thumb drive is locked.
I'd get a new one (they're cheap). They aren't write protected unless you set them up that way.

That was what i expected, that it was the thumb drive, i will have to get a new one, they are so cheap these days. I kind of remembered your issues Herb.

Herbie, i bought a new USB flash drive at Big Lots of all places, and it was 4 gigs for $9 plugged it in and i was able to transfer the install disk to it. I think for $9 i will mark it MC5 and keep it that way.

Yeah i have used it before, but not nearly as much as my old MC3 version. I use it now for a very special task. I add lyrics to midi files to make .kar versions for processing and playback. I am most likely going to add some drum tracks as well with Jamstix since it likes that as well.
