(which we are still trying to reproduce
consistently ).

Hi Nick,,, I can bring up the"your file is corrupt" window ...
I use the tascasm us 428 and the roland sp-606, I was experiementing with switching drivers ,,,here's what I came up with,,

1- working in an (already created project) for 5 min. add a synth (psyn) some audio loops and ptn patterns---(also ,,,record a part or two with the psyn) using the roland sp-606 wdm drivers at 16 bit ,,

2- don't save the project ,,now,, switch to the roland asio drivers (which only offer 24 bit by the way)

3- go to open another project ,,when asked to save select yes

4-when the project goes to open I get the "your file is corrupt" window'' all I have to do is re-start p5 and I can open the project,, I tried it 5 times and achieved the same results,,,,

I'm curious, why would you switch drivers in the middle of a project, without
saving your work first?

- jim

Sorry, wanted to clarify. I can understand why one would possibly do this as a
testing strategy, but I'm wondering what the reason would be to do it in the field.

I cannot open 3/4 of my P5 files right now, and have basically stopped writing music until I save up some money to get Cubase or Live. Even though I LOVE P5, I will probally have to turn my back on Cakewalk unless they address this issue super fast or release V2.0.

I understand Cakewalks position on this matter. The group of P5 users is very small, and they are probally not even sure how to fix the problem. It is easier for Cakewalk just to take care of it in the upgrade, which is what the software company I work for did in a similar situation.

Just based on capabilities, and my upgrade credit, I should probally look at Sonar... but I am a bit upset with Cake.

oh well, we'll see what happens.

Ya' know what? Even with these annoying corrupted file issues, and the resulting distrust in using P5, it’s still the first thing I drag out when I’m struck by the muse. It’s just so frickin’ EASY!

I'd like to add a happy ending to my story. I took Nick up on his offer and sent him a couple of files. Nick discovered that my crash was due to a configuration change in fxpansion's dr-008. For those that aren't familiar with dr-008 I believe that it is authored by the same people that did Velocity. With dr-008 the user is able to configure the number of outputs and auxes in the drum sampler. This configuration is a global setting and is not saved with any particular song or patch. Therefore once you change the outputs, every song that is now opened with dr-008 in it will have the new settings. Apparently Project5 crashes when the dr-008 outputs are modified from the previous setting.

    So thanks again to Nick!

glad to hear it. i did notice if i left the show this dialog on start checked in the config area in the dr-008 i could get your file to open that far before crashing.

What synths/FXs were you using. We you using Groove Player? Was there anythong odd happening to your tracks before you saved?

    hey mike85021,

everything was cool. i had no groove player. i was only trying to adjust the outputs and it took a couple openings and closings of Battery to get it right. then the stink arose and the file is corrupted. i was using the lexicon reverb and upon opening it says something like it's not connected, yet the reverb works just fine.

I'm a little confused. Is that what happened just before the corruption? Or is this after the face on a different project?

Sometimes, if you uniunstall a problem effect, that will allow you to open the song (because P5 can't find/load it). You might try that. If it works, remove any reference to the effect.

Always make sure you have the most current version of whatever you use.

    Good luck.
