The advance blurb on Sonar X3 Power! didn't give much away either. Or the one before that.

They don't have any details, these pages are placeholders for the real thing. Retailers have pages setup well in advance of product releases. This is not the first mention of a SONAR X4 Power! book.

I know on Amazon they'll announce the publication date a couple of months ahead of time.

It's standard practice for publishers to notify retailers of book releases 9 or so months in advance of publication (some titles will get this information embargoed but that's not very common).

Publishing date of 11/26/14 with a price of $49.99 seem like details to me. Have these books ever been made available before Sonar's release?

I don't know about the previous editions. But the pre-release info seems 'legit' to me also. If it is true, I'm sure CW will figure out a way to spin it properly!

Scott has answered this one before, it's just a place holder automatically inserted by the retailer. It may turn out to be true, it probably won't.

Who are they trying to fool, you know x4 is due, I know x4 is due, they know we know x4 is due, why the BS? Competition maybe, I hate to break it but, steinberg, avid, presonus, apple, and the rest all also know x4 is due. Seems to me like cake like to tease us (or lie to us, point blank deny everything) then take our money. On that note, come on bakers, I want to give you money :D

Cengage is willing to take your money for this book. I'm not sure they'd do that for a 'placeholder'.

Andrew Rossa [Cakewalk] As you may know, this book is not published by us nor do we have any affiliation with the company. They probably publish these 6 months in advance and likely have SONAR X5 Power, SONAR X6 Power, etc, in the pipeline. Don't read too much into this is what I am saying.
Yep, sorry everyone, but Andrew is right. As you all know, I do a new book for every version of SONAR. The publisher likes to get a jump on these things, which is why you see that in their system. They just probably made a mistake (or there was a computer glitch), which made it visible to the public. I'm sure they'll get it hidden again, shortly. This doesn't foretell a new book coming any time soon. Sorry. However, my SONAR X3 Power book is definitely available, and it's right here in the Cakewalk Store... http://www.store.cakewalk.com/default.asp?sku=30-CTSX3.00-20C And more info at: http://www.garrigus.com/ Thanks! Everything is on hold until Gibson's acquisition of Apple is complete. When that happens, Sonar will become cross-platform and renamed Songic Pro X4. There will also be an iPad version, and a new product called Cakewatch which is a combination fitness trainer, metronome, and hovercraft.

This may not be so ridiculous - on Cakewalk's "we're hiring" page the software engineer position requires: - Significant knowledge of Mac OSX/iOS and Windows
Is there a Mac version on Sonar in the works? http://www.cakewalk.com/Careers/Gigs

We don't know. They have repeated stated there are no plans to write a Mac version of SONAR. I would imagine Cakewalk would be looking to continue creating more Mac products like the ones they have made in the past. The current Mac products need updates too.

Cakewatch will help finish songs, but it wipes out the intros to do that - something about keeping balance in the universe. It's sort of like taking hair from our ears to cover a bald spot on top, or however that is done... Bob Bone

Keep in mind, X3 was seen at Sweetwater online before its release, and we just took it as prep. It was nice to see, but hey. I just view that as a much more sophisticated way to drop hints (if that were the intent) than Apple's horribly failed attempt to have us believe one of their people left an unreleased iPhone prototype in a bar... I look at the way things are going with CW differently than we did when X2b was released. We saw that, then, for months and months, nothing. I still have a bad taste in my mouth of how X2 was abandoned, IMO, but I can honestly say, when the next version comes out, we'll get it, and run its course the way we did with X3. For CW, the updates and communications were far better. And when the Apple acquisition is complete, we can take their lead and leave a sealed boxed copy of X6 at the BlueBird Cafe', or on a background table in the next season of Nashville (or have a copy running in the background at the studio the Nashville actors are tracking). HMMM.....

As you all know by now, Sonar X4 came out on September 23, and was sold in a limited edition bundle with a free HP laptop sporting a custom sunburst finish. However that was a special that lasted for only a week, so we're now back to X3.
