Interface

Hi,
I currently have PreSonus FireStudio Project FireWire Interface.
I like it, but I am wanting some type of workstation that will interface with Sonar really well. My budget is the price of the PreSonus. Any suggestions???

Through Christ,
C Morgan

    Thanks for the reply.
No really knocks on it, but I would like to have something on my desktop that would be like a mixer/recording workstation where when if I were to adjust the fader on my computer it would adjust on the "workstation"
I guess more control out of the computer, but would still like the control to be the same on the computer? Does this make since?

Your looking for a control surface, not really a sound card. Its best to keep them seperate. I would look into the MCU, but its over $1,000. The BCf is around $199 and the presonus fader ports are about $150

Okay now I see. Yeah like CJ says. The Mackie is simply head and shoulders above the cheaper alternatives. Maybe you can find a used Mackie first-generation control surface, the black one (not the newer silver one).

Here's a real budget option, and it's got Cakewalk written on it!

You can apparently reflash the eeprom so that it can be doctored to run with other sequencers, or use it with ACT to control synths etc: http://www.sonicware.de/studiomix/studiomix_en.html

one thing to be advised - the fader port etc. 'won't affect the PreSonus' hardware. It is a software controller - you'll still have to deal with the input/outputs of the Presonus for mic levels and master output. You probably do realize that, but just want to be sure.
