Cool song.  Hearing the heavy guitars, I was expecting a face melting middle eight, but oh well...  ;)
 
The drums and vocals seem very bright (I like the kick drum though) to where all the highs are stomping on each other, making it lack clarity up top.  If you're new to Ozone, beware of any of the presets...they are horrid.  Used properly, and delicately, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Oh man.... Ozone is like digital ear candy.

I didn't know what to expect either.... wondering if I was about to be blindsided or what...

This is a cool song. I like it... sweet guitar playing.

nits: The vox are brighter than they should be.  I'm listening on the computer speakers not my buds so I don't hear the mix as good as I need to.

Getting Ozone is like the first time you cranked up the computer and installed the Cake software.... it's a cool moment. The presets are a good starting point, and with time, you learn to listen to the crits and make the adjustments....and in time it sounds even better. Ozone gives you a big step forward with little effort. Now, you gotta learn it and what to do with it... how to tweeze it.

Start on the EQ.... roll the highs off.  Sometimes I will open a preset and it sounds OK but it might be a bit much... so I disable ALL of the modules and turn them on one at a time and make adjustments. I add another module, and do the same... adjust. Sometimes I will turn the modules back off. The secret is to use ONLY what you need to use and no more.  For example, don't use the Loudness Maximizer just to use it, or the reverb just to use it.  If a module does not improve the mix, turn it off.

On the EQ.... roll the highs off and play it back..... pull the mids down and up, experiment and get the feel of what O4 is capable of doing. 

I can hear a definite improvement in the overall sound.... much more professional sounding mix IMHO, you just gotta work out the details and you will be in "high cotton" as the saying goes.

Yes... I remember the first few times I used O4... it was ...as was said, like listening to a whole new song....


Learn the controls..... be sure to download the mastering guides and take the time to read and understand them, that way you know what you are doing "inside the black box" of the modules as you tweeze the controls.  It only gets better when you understand the theory behind the interface.

Great tune, and nicely arranged.  Maybe it's semantics, but I'd describe the vocals as being 'too thin' sounding.  In fact, I sorta' got that feel from the whole track.  Everything is very well done, but (for example) I don't 'feel' the drums the way I should.  Maybe this is just me personally or a taste thing.  IMO, Bottom line: you did a great job on the pieces, but the whole could be stronger.  Definitely worth staying with this 'til it comes together. 

I use the multi-band compression to fatten the sound a bit. Especially works well on drums to put the punch in the kick.

Really like the song, but the mix needs some tweaks to my ears. Only listening on lappy, so not the best listening environment, but the very best mixes on this forum still sound pretty good on here, and this one isn't quite there for me. Maybe it's just a taste/genre thing but the overall thing sounds a bit bright and thin to me, mainly the vox and drums. Not really hearing the bass either. Don't get me wrong, it's good alright, but it could be very good with a few tweaks.

Good song and performance.   You have some good suggestions from others above on the mix.   All you need is a face melting guitar solo to bring it home.
