Introducing RAVEN MTi2 - Touch Control Surface!

With the RAVEN 3.0 software update, that now supports EVERY MAJOR DAW (according to the emailed announcement)!

So, scrolling thru the list of DAWs...... Yep, guess which one is missing from the list... ?  C'mon, Slate!

Well, SONAR has had touch support for quite some time...Slate might think it's redundant?

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

Hmm. The Raven is much more than just a common or garden touch monitor though. I know I don't think it's redundant; I'd love to have a Raven / Sonar setup, and I don't think a standard touch monitor comes anywhere close to that.

According to video Sonar is not a major DAW. There goes their future market share.

Slate is piggybacking the studio/educational marketing model of the past. Can't really fault that revenue stream target, especially getting students hooked on it.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

I wonder which extra feature recommends the Raven for more than $1000 over a similarly-sized garden variety touchscreen?   Their touch software you don't need w/ SONAR?  It does add some functionality to ProTools since it is designed to work with it, but that is a lot to pay for a toolbar/batch control, even if those will work w/ SONAR.  And it needs an iLok - that ought to scare off about half the users here.

Why not just go whole hog and get the MTX for $10,000?  And you get an arm rest.

I think mainly because it doesn't support PC. Slate pretty much hates PC. :P

Beat me to it. I've wasted a bunch of good money on Slate plugins, but was never able to use them. Why? iLok never worked on my PC (a Dell XPS8500, reasonably mainstream). Slate never responded to a single email. And I still can't get one specific comment on this forum out of my head. Can't remember who made it, or what thread it was in, but the comment was that Slate plugins were optimized with a potato. So? I uninstalled, and wrote my investment off.

Your issues sounds like they're with iLok - not with Slate plugs.  I've got twenty or so iLok plugs - from a dozen different manufacturers - and, well, they work just fine.   In fact, never had a single hiccup with iLok (And please, before someone chimes in on the evils of dongles, let's save that for another thread).

Not sure what to make of your potato comment.  Lots of users like Slate plugs, optimised with a potato or not.  (That comment was most likely contributed by a Celeron system user with a GB of ram, because I haven't heard others making similar "potato" complaints about Slate plugs).

You paid for the plugins, I'd think you'd want to use them.  If you ever want to get your iLok functioning correctly, start a new troubleshoot thread and we'll help you out.

I am the originator of the potato comment and it's absolutely true. I've never had as many issues with plugins as I've had with Slate ones. I can compare it to a bad port as there is always something buggering up with them.

I love the sound I get from them... when they work properly. There lies the problem as about 50% of the time I'm fighting with them to work whether it be issues with their license or the plugin itself. It becomes a real hassle to deal with because the company obviously lacks the skill to properly code it for PC.

I use Slate's plugins on my desktop and have no problem with them. I don't find that they have anything special that I can't get elsewhere though, but they are nice, if a little quirky at times.

On the Slate site it says PC compatibility will be coming in the future, so it may eventually work with Sonar.
