Irregular notes

Hello all, please can anyone help? Is it possible to enter irregular notes into the staff or any view in X1 ,eg in classical music you get a lot of groups of note together like say in 44 time you may get a group of notes say 6 9 or 11 notes to be played in time of one quarter note.
Many thanks.
Paul

Yes, but you have to do some calculations.

If your clock is set to 1/4 note = 960 ticks, to have 11 notes played in the time of one quarternote, you have to make the duration of each note 87 ticks and set the start time accordingly. 87*11=957 so its a little off, but that's as close as you can get. 6 notes would be 160 ticks each and so on. That's the only way I know how to do it. I have no idea how the staff view will depict that, but it will play right.

Hi many thanks for your help. It seems a little complicated, but I'll give it a try. Perhaps if I'm going to do a lot of this kind of stuff I may be better off using Sibelius software.
    Cheers.

Actually the easiest way you can accompolish this by using the step sequencer.

Left click and hold the little tab at the bottom of the Record button on the transporter and select "Step record".  Now when you click on the record button with your mouse the step sequencer will pop up.

I always choose a quarter note then check the "tuplet box".  you will be able to choose the number of notes in 1 beat.  Then place the "now" time marker where you want and use your midi keyboard to input the notes.

That is how I create Orchestral runs....
