Irritation!

Am I the only person who is finding that, considering how much we pay for this stuff, especially in the UK, that all the glitches in transferring from X1 to X2 are really irritating, frustrating and cost valuable time which I don't have much of!

It started with the timeouts on the downloads-not everyone is on superfast fiberoptic! And I'm sure I'm not alone in using a DAW that isn't connected to the internet(it ALWAYS screws everything else eventually no matter what anyone says!) which adds an extra layer of workflow because, I'm sure like many others, I have to download to a separate laptop and transfer (and before anyone says that's my choice-as I said, the internet always slowly but surely strangles DAWs and I'm fed up with uninstalling and re-installing because of it!).

This latest message "please download and run previous passages" is not really acceptable in the circumstances. I have, btw, downloaded part 2 a second time and am still getting the same message, so just waiting tediously for a reply from tech help.

In addition, does anyone know where the serial numbers are for the PC4k compressor? It says n/a under the serial nb heading on my account page, so quite annoying to download it and find I'm asked for a number. Again, I now have the tedious wait for a reply from tech help!

Part 1 of the upgrade appears to have been successful, but what do I do now? Use it part-loaded and compromise, uninstall it and go back to X1...not even sure if that is possible and it's a compromise again. Sit and wait for a reply while I have deadlines and commitments to fulfill? Go through the process of downloading part 1 again?-they say they've changed it but there nothing looks any different from my account page! If I do, does that overwrite the part of X2 that is already installed or do I have to uninstall it?

Pfft!

Oh no, you are certainly not the only one moaning about the shortcomings of X2.

If you are thinking that you are having issues with the download why don't you get the boxed media. It's too late now, I know, but you could have got a good deal at the Etcetera web site. That would at least get around your internet issues.

I have the PC4K compressor and I've just re-checked my account and all the reg and serial codes are there. So, yeah, you have a problem there.

I don't think you can just load part 1. But you should not have to uninstall X2 in order to use X1. They run okay side by side. At least they do on my workstation. So you can be using X1 for your "professional" commitments while you are waiting for Cakewalk to come back to you about missing serial numbers, and also waiting for the boxed media to arrive.

    Glad I'm not alone!

I didn't think a hard copy was an option because mine was the automatic upgrade to X2-I'm not sure I'd call it free because I bought Production Suite on the basis that X2 was part of the package when it became available.

    Thanks for your advice.
