Is Adobe FlashPlayer the biggest "pile" ever?
<rant> Just a RANT, nothing to see here... This miserable pile is the MOST unstable piece of software on my computer. ALMOST as annoying as NORTON (which is the worst virus any of machines has ever had!). Like I said, just a RANT, nothing to see here... Oh, and then there's Spotify, but I won't go there today. </rant> T

Even Adobe recently told people they should uninstall it. That says a lot right there. I've not yet put it on this computer since formatting.

Yeah, just use HTML5, no need for Flash anymore although on some things you might not have as many resolution options. What drive me crazy with Flash is how insecure it is and how often it needs to be updated. It's constant.

I've taken flash off all systems, and use Chrome for that rare site that needs it. In view of the number of security problems with Flash, it should really go.

Flash is just about the biggest security risk you can install on yr PC. Esp. since that oh so helpful Italian company, 'Hacking Team' (the, er 'surveillanceware' maker) themselves got hacked. Broke my irony meter so it did. Just uninstall it and move on. Hopefully one day the BBC will cotton on and update their iPlayer to use HTML5. Presumably once the last massive back-hander from Adobe's run out...

The interesting thing is that using HTML5, over at Groove3 anyway, the video "hangs". The lesson audio continues, but not the video. The bear dances badly, what did I expect. "No one ever gets exactly what he wants Bluesman..." T

The problem is that it's a gaping security hole that is easily exploitable just like Java which is another program I refuse to install.

No, this does not violate the prohibition on discussing politics. Comedy is exempt, even when it comes from a politician. It is, however, off-topic for this subforum. So please avoid actually quoting Mr. Trump's punch lines, lest we be forced to move this to the CH and invoke the ire of bapu.
