I believe that this question has been answered before. To wit: We take pleasure in answering thus prominently the communication below, expressing at the same time our great gratification that its faithful author is numbered among the friends of People Magazine:Dear Editor— I am 28 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Bapu. Papa says, "If you see it in People Magazine, it's so." Please tell me the truth, is there a Bapu? Virginia O'Hanlon 115 West Ninety Fifth Street
Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours, man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge. A mere glimpse of the mindless rabble rushing through the aisles of any Walmart on Black Friday should be enough to convince even the most hardened skeptic of this unassailable truth. Yes, Virginia, there is a Bapu. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Bapu! It would be as dreary as if there were no political conventions. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight and pepperoni pizza (with extra cheese and black olives. And maybe an excellent, craft-brewed IPA). The external light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished. Not believe in Bapu! You might as well not believe in Justin Bieber. You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Bapu, but even if you did not see Bapu coming down to eat all your becan, what would that prove? Nobody sees Bapu, but that is no sign that there is no Bapu. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see Kim Kardashian dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that she is not there. She is everywhere, whether or not she possesses an actual demonstrable talent of any sort. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world. You tear apart the iPad and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest men that ever lived could tear apart. Only faith, poetry, love, romance, and (apparently) the FBI can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding (except, perhaps, the WWF on a really good day). No Bapu! Thank goodness! He lives and lives forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay 10 times 10,000 years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood. Simon Cowell might be pretty happy as well. ----------------- "Is There a Bapu?" reprinted from the September 21, 2015, issue of People Magazine. And if perchance, we are in error on this issue, I say that in good conscience we keep our opinions to ourselves rather than ruin the day for all the little ones, whoever they may be.

“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy” is attributed to Benjamin Franklin perhaps in error, but the thought remains a worthy sentiment nonetheless.

I have this fantasy that Bapu is connected to cakewalk in some executive position. Is this true? It wouldn't be technology, most likely sales because they're all pranksters.

A typical Bapu tactic to UP his post count. FYI, you should never let him sleep on your couch......there are just too many "things" you can catch that are contagious/hazardous to your health. Remember how that whole bicycle fiasco started when you first saw Bapu on his bike?
