Is CD architect still valid??

I had a new computer last year and just today got around to re-installing CD Architect 5.2.   What a royal pain in the patooty!!  But finally, I was successful.  The registration with Sony has always been a nightmare with old Sound Forge leftovers..

Any rate...  I've had CD Arch for eons now.  Is it still valid?  I'm not seeing other programs (like Sonar??) really being as full featured as CD Architect.  So...I still use it.

stuff like adjusting time between songs, adjustable cross fading, CD text...  just the simple stuff isn't as easy elsewhere, it appears.

Yes, they still sell it, so I assume it is still a viable product

I just recently bought it and like it. It's long in the tooth but gets the job done.

Well even Sound Forge looks like the ancient Sonitus plugs.  But still great imo.

I've really grown to like CD Architect and want to think I first got it back in the early 90'S??  with my SCSI Plextor drives....!

I still use Sound Forge and CD Architect - I would be a wee bit lost without them.

I just upgraded to Sound forge Pro 11 and CD Architect is included in the package, not that I needed to install it as it has been on my system(s) for as long as it has been available.

I go to Samplitude Pro for the jobs that CD Architect used to do.  Sound Forge was a great program for me and linked right up to CD Architect.  But I never upgraded or installed it on my current computer for more or less the same reasons you posted.

I love Samplitude...while it's not the "best looking" program, it is certainly powerful,
    and HIGHLY underrated...

I think it is more that it looks... well not like an audio application. It looks like a computer program, like Excel or the like. It's UI is very minimal, very functional, not flashy. I really like it. While the pretty UIs are visually appealing, the basic ones really get stuff done well. A simple Windows slider control is really much better for setting things then some flashy skeuomorphic dial.

I respect Sony for keeping it functional and high performing, rather than going all crazy with making it look pretty.

The CD standard hasn't changed I guess the software doesn't need to either. If you want more you can go to DVD Architect which is at version 6 and comes bundled with Vegas Pro. It's not like Sonay are t doing new stuff but they're obviously concentrating on the Video side of things. Their Spectral Layers Pro is also an awesome product that I don't have yet. I don't know whether Sound Forge is ever going to be 64 bit but I guess it doesn't need to be.
