Is P5 compatable with 64 bit processors?

Hey guys,

Im getting a new computer soon.

I am going to build it, and I was wondering if P5 is compatable with a 64 bit processor.

I know that alot of programs can't utalize the 64bit processor, but can P5?

Does anyone know? Thanks!

I think most 32-bit apps will run under 64-bit processors and will run faster, but they will not take full advantage of them. The only music app that can fully utilise 64-bit processing at this time is Sonar 5, I believe, as it is coded to use the 64-bit registers whereas all the other apps are still programmed to run on 32-bit systems.

I think you also need to be running a 64-bit operating system for the 64-bit version of Sonar to work...

I have an AMD Turion 64 bit in my laptop.
I'm not running the 64 bit version of windows though so I think it's exactly the same as if I had a 32 bit processor. I don't think P5 can take advantage of 64 bit at present time anyway.

I think you will still get some benefit from the 64-bit processor, but nowhere near as much as you will achieve when Vista arrives...unless Microsoft has stuffed it so full of DRM stuff that it crawls along!
