Is Sonar activation tied to your hardware profile
I just realized that I might get into trouble if I allow my install to go through, since I have to swap out my motherboard tomorrow. Does anyone know if the new Sonar (Platinum) activation is tied to your hardware profile like most manufacturers do these days? If so, once my download finishes, I hope I have to manually start the install so I can save it until I replace my MB tomorrow. Thanks

I don't know for sure, but I highly doubt it as I installed on my laptop and desktop.

It might but there is no hard limit to activations. The C3 hides the details. You may need to run C3 again or use the remote activation process to get it running again.

Thanks Craig. I think that does answer the question. Cheers!

Thanks scook. I'm going to go ahead and install based on both your answers. If necessary I deal with reactivating tomorrow. Cheers

Word is that you can still install Sonar on multiple (more than two?) computers, so even if it was tied to the hardware you would be able to install it after a motherboard replacement. Even those programs that do depend on a hardware specific hash generally give you the option to uninstall it on one computer and install it on a new computer. In the event that the old installation is so trashed that uninstallation is impossible, most vendors will still give you that right if you call and explain the situation. That call allows them to reset the authorization at their end as though there had been an uninstallation at your end. A periodic reauthoriation as proposed by the membership model should make that process even easier, as each authorization request could present a new installation hash. In any event it is my impression that no such hardware specific hash is a part of the process for Sonar.

Thanks slart! Oooops - didn't have the option of a manual start though. It just started installing when the download finished and it verified the files. I guess you could cancel by clicking the X on the file extraction window if you had to. I'm letting it go anyway based on the provided info. Thanks all.
