Is Studio Instruments worth buying?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering purchasing Studio Instruments. I'm not that great of a musician and I was thinking that it could help me flesh out my ideas in much the same ways that Virtual Guitarist does.

Am I right in that assumption? Does it operate in sort of the same manner Virtual Guitarist does? Should I buy it now or wait to see if it's included in the next version of Sonar?

Thanks in advance of any advise you guys/girl may give me.

Lateef

    Hi Lateef,

You'll get different opinions about Studio Instruments here, but IMHO, Studio Instruments is well worth the price (which I think is $30 right now). I paid $50 and did not regret it.

I don't use the drums instrument, but I find the bass, strings, and epiano to be quite serviceable. Each instrument comes with its own micro-host, which lets me noodle around with them by launching them from my desktop.

And like you said, you can flesh out your ideas with them, and then just replace them if you decide on a better instrument for your tracks.

Oops, I just double-checked, it's only $19.99 right now. Even better.

I have to second Roger. I like SI.
It is true to its mission statement. Easy to use, no frills.
It doesn't have a huge arsenal of patterns, but covers the basics, and is great for working on ideas.
The string section is my personal favorite, and that alone is worth the price of admission.
