Is The Snap Setting On The HUD Tool Bar Only For Setting Note Duration in the PRV?
Or is it a snap setting at all? Just used for note duration?

I think it's just for note duration...at least that's how it seems.

Hey olpal, I think you're right. I keep wanting to use it as a quick method for changing my snap to setting - That would be sweet. Does it seem weird that it occupies such a prominent space on the tool bar if it's only for note duration? This has probably been covered but I just started using the middle mouse button HUD tool display and wondered why I would be seeing that setting even in track view. I wonder if X1b will make it a bit more useful for the TV.

According to the manual this is "Draw Resolution". It doesn't have anything to do with Snap. The HUD and the tools module in the control bar are the same thing. That is why you can easily take this large componant out of the control bar if you don't need it, clearing a lot of room for other items. Larry: Why would you see that setting in Track View? I'm not sure of all reasons, but for one - if you are working on an expanded midi track it is like an integrated PRV which would make great use from this. I'm not a big midi guy, so I'm not sure how valuable that is - or isn't! Edited for clarity.

Yeah coda you're right about the purpose of that setting. I was just pressing the middle mouse button in Track View and there's the setting and it seemed strange that it serves no purpose while in TV. I think it would great if it did change snap setting in TV instead of having to reach for the sap setting at the top of the screen. And come to think of it I NEVER go to the tool bar at the top of Control Bar. I'll probably delete it but there's nothing else I really need in the CB so maybe not. Thanks for the reply.

If you don't want to change the snap resolution via the mouse, you can set up key bindings for each of the different resolutions and then quickly change the setting with a keypress. Scott -- Scott R. You are talking about Snap Resolution - not the Draw resolution in the HUD right? Is this done by using screensets with different snap settings (which I am aware of), or can you actually assign a snap setting with a key binding? Or is this a "buy the book secret" - LOL! EDIT: I didn't even notice that in the key bindings but I just found it! Thanks for that tip!

I've recently read a couple of threads with this same advice. Haven't tried it yet but seems to be good advice. EDIT: Yeah works fine here.

Working good here too with a quick test. I'm going to like this, it's even easier than setting it up in screensets.
