Is There An Instrument...

Similar to Cakewalk TTS 1, which can emulate the Roland GS and Yamaha XG sounds, as well as General MIDI patches and sounds from popular synths like the Roland D50 and Yamaha DX7? The reason why I ask is because when I have a project with Cakewalk TTS 1, no matter how many instances I put in there, it makes Sonar 8.5 crash upon opening the project, and upon inserting another instance. Grrr it makes me so mad! What do I do next? Anyone have any suggestions of better virtual instruments?

I Dream of Australia, France, and Canada, three wonderful nations that represent who I really am.

You can pick up a used Yamaha MU100 cheaply on eBay. It will do GM, GS, and XG. It's a really nice hardware rompler.

Is the computer you are running 8.5 (8.5.3?) completely up to date with all Windows maintenance, AND all drivers up to date, too?

What sort of audio interface are you running?

What is your Sample Rate in Sonar, as well as the Sample Rate from the audio interface?

Do any of these failing projects use ANY 32-bit plugins?

    1. I run Windows 7 64 Bit in its default state, due to JAWS (Job Access With Speech) 10.0 screenreader software only being compatible with the default version of Windows 7.
    2. Yes, Sonar is up to date.
    3. There are no 32 bit plugins in my project, though I don't know if Cakewalk TTS 1 is both 32 and 64 bit or just 32 bit.
    4. My sample rate in both my MOTU 896HD audio interface and Sonar is 44.100 KHZ.

Anyone have any suggestions of an instrument similar to Cakewalk TTS 1, which can emulate the aforementioned synths? If so, which one would be compatible with Sonar 8.5 Producer Edition?
