Is VocalSync 'audition' broken?
My first time trying vocalsync seriously, but I'm experiencing a major problem. One track suddenly increases volume from -10db to +9db when vocalsync is applied and pops, clicks and dropouts occur. To make sure there was nothing else in the project that might be messing with things, I copied the two tracks to a brand new project and then bounced them to clips (One peaks at about -8db, the other at -10db). As soon as I use "create region effect/vocalsync" in one of the tracks, the same issue occurs - without any adjust of the parameters. The strange thing is that 'rendering' the effect puts it back at the right level and smooth playback. Any ideas or similar experiences?

There is a problem with vocalsync in the latest 64 bit version of sonar. It creates pops clicks percussion sounds dropouts and pegs the meter to 99.9. It is also not project specific. I tried everything including uninstall an reinstall. Unticking the 64 bit audio engine helps as does disabling all fx. 32 bit version of sonar works as expected. I have both installed.

UPDATE: I have narrowed the problem down to the 64 bit double precision engine and vocalsync. When the 64 bit engine is engaged, vocalsync is useless. When 64 bit engine is disengaged, vocal sync works as expected. Had Sonar Crash with Vocal sync open, and turning on the 64 bit audio engine. Please note: This is for the 64 bit version of Sonar. AS stated before vocal sync works as expected in the 32 bit version of Sonar even with 64 bit engine engaged.

Hi Kevo, thanks for your detective work! I'm not at my DAW at the moment, but I'll do some testing today on my system with your suggestion. I am running 64 bit Sonar with 64 bit double precision engine.

Now I'm further confused ... I tried Kevo's suggestion (turning off 64 bit precision engine) and it worked!! - vocalsync sounded as it should. However, on a second and third test project it works fine either way (on or off). Therefore, I'm left pondering why would '64 bit precision' affect only one set of wav files and not others? I checked the file depth of all test project files and they are all 32 bit - so no inconsistencies there that might suggest something. Can it be a bug when it only happens on certain projects?

First thing to do is check your audio interface firmware (system program) and drivers are up to date. Also update your display adapter driver (may sound weird but I have been recommended by cakewalk to do this in the past with precision engine issues).

Given the various graphics card/driver issues, I'm starting to wonder if there would be a market for a graphics card that's designed to do anything BUT gaming...

Craig - I think you are on to something!! Doktor - thanks for the suggestions - I did just find a new graphics card driver released this past week - but alas, it hasn't made any difference. As it seems to be mainly that one project I am having trouble with, I guess I can ultimately live with it. Not thrilled though! Thanks for your help.

Just turn off the 64bit floating engine it doesn't work and causes tons of problems with the program not just vocal sync. It's a compromise we shouldn't have to make but we do unfortunately despite all Cake's marketing claims
