Is anybody sidechaining anything? X3 Producer/Trackspacer 2.0

Well, I'm not sure I'm doing this right. Is anyone easily sidechaining stuff (kick into bass, for example) in X3?

I've got my kick drum from Addictive Drums "outputting" to my bass guitar track. In the bass guitar fx bin, I've got Trackspacer (tried it with the Glue, too) - I set up the kick track to output into the bass track's input of Trackspacer.

When I tell Trackspacer to sidechain by hitting the little button, I hear the kick through the bass track, but no bass. Sidechaining appears to kill the bass.

I can get the bass back by turning the sidechain off in Trackspacer, but then I can't hear the kick, because it is being routed into nothing.

I have even gone to the bass track, and selected "input" and told it to listen to the kick track. Nothing works.

Is anybody sidechaining anything in X3 - it's supposed to work, right? VST3 and all?

thanks,
-Tom

Side chaining works just like the video describes http://youtu.be/tkWeQR4UJf0. Side chaining works with other plug-ins too but I have no experience Trackspacer.

I've never used Trackspacer but sidechaining works fine with the Waves C1 and Sonitus compressors. The Sonitus compressor works pretty well for ducking the bass.
Edit: Looking at the Trackspacer page, I don't know if it's really what you want anyway. You might be better off with a bit of eq and ducking.

TrackSpacer does work admirably and is simple to use and understand. There are a number of examples on YouTube which demonstrate how to set it for things like you're working on. If you have it, just learn it a bit more and you'll get it working and easily be able to adjust it.

That said, quite a few plugins now offer ways to get at this and there are multiple options.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

When you click the little sidechain button in Trackspacer, you are hearing the sidechain input. Don't do that.

Also, make sure that you adjust your send level to the sidechain input. If it is too hot, Trackspacer will distort.
