Is anyone useing Superior drummer 2? Would you be able to talk me through multi outs?

Hi all

Is anyone useing Toontracks Superior drummer 2? Would you be able to talk me through how to set up  multi outs in to sonar producer 8.5 ?

Ive not got the first clue how to set it up .....

Ive tryed over at the toon track forum but no answer yet ;(

I did read that .....All Synth Audio Stereo or All Synth Audio Mono in the insert synth dialog box.  This will create at least one audio track in SONAR for every drum

But that is like another language to me as ive only just started useing sonar and was useing protools before this.

At the momment i have sd2 runing on the synth rack and have recorded my drum part and i can mix inside sd2 but i would like to try doing it with some of the plugins in sonar.

If any one would be able to talk me through it or make me an idiots guid that would be awesome!

Every one on here has been great with there help on other problems ive had and have helped me get everything answerd and I cant thank everyone enough!

Well, if you can just check "all synth audio outs" when inserting an instance of SD2 you will get an audio track for every SD2 output.  Then, when you open up SD2's GUI go to the mixer page.  Then, at the bottom of every track just assign what Sonar track you want that kit piece to go to by assigning the relevant output...i.e. Kick to output 1, Snare to output 2, Hihat to output 3...etc...or however you wish to route them.  Toontracks mixer guis are some of the easiest to route in all VSTdom.  Just experiment a little and you'll soon see. HTH.

    Thanks for the reply:D

I am going to sound like an idiot herebut if I dont ask i wont know .... Where will I find the All synths audio out ? so i can check it ?

Can this still be done even though I have recorded the drums already ? Or is it something i need to do before?

    Thanks again

I dealt with this for the first time just a couple of days ago!

The 'all synths out' option (or whatever it's labeled) is when you insert the soft synth in the midi channel you're working with.

What it *won't* do, unless your Superior defaults are different from mine, is do helpful things like label the Sonar channels with specific drums. In mine, I think it labeled them things like "Superior 1/2"; "Superior 3/4". You need to go into the mixer panel *within* Superior drummer. I think by default that each instrument is directed to Superior 1/2, so you can go through and send each instrument channel to the output you want it going to, and then relabel the new channels in Sonar with more helpful names!

    Hope that makes some sense.

That option is part of the Insert SYnth Options dialogue box. It normally appears when you choose to insert an new synth, however you may have it turned off. To check, go to your synth rack and select it ;the 4th button on the top (or press 'O') and select 'show this every time. You can still manually route your outputs to audio tracks at this point if your drums are already recorded.

Insert/Soft Synth/Whatever VST you are trying to load

When the Sonar dialog pops up check "all synth audio outputs".  Then follow my previous instructions.
