Is anyone using a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 digital mixer with SONAR X1?

Is anyone using this thing with any success? I recently bought one believing the advertising hype of how easy it is to use as a recording interface, which is true providing you use the bundled Capture recording software. The mixer is tightly intergrated with this software negating the routing of tracks and setting up. The software has limited editing capability and is intended to mainly track your audio in. The problems begin when trying to get your audio out of Capture and into your DAW of choice.
Presonus say that the interface can be used with all the major DAWs and I can get it to interface with SONAR X1 enough to record a track and get basic playback, but here it becomes desperate. As the Presonus is a digital desk the control surface is all buttons for the selection of functions and routing, but as with all buttons it depends on the sequence pushed as to what functions they perform. The faders and rotary encoders I can handle, but those damned buttons are driving me nuts.

I have been to the Presonus site and YouTube and watched videos but have yet to find a clear procedure on how to set this thing up. Is there anyone out there who has one, and got their head around how it functions? Please share your insights for the benefit of others who aren't so clever.

To clarify, are you having performance issues... or are you strictly looking for advice on use?
If you're having performance issues, first make sure you're using a TI chipset Firewire controller.

I guess I'm looking for advise on use. I have no problem with the firewire interface with the computer, it's all those damn buttons, and what they do when.
In the last few days I have managed to track on a number of channels and get playback happening through channels 15/16, but that's about it. I haven't yet figured how to get the mixer FX into the DAW or use the mixer to mix tracks coming out of the DAW.
At one stage I lost all control of the mixer. I mean, not a single knob, button or fader seemed to have any effect, yet I was getting output from the DAW though the mixer to the monitors. Strange. I had to close down and reboot everthing to get back control.
Steep learning curve. All help graciously accepted :)

    I'm glad I drive a Yamaha!! :)
Digital mixers even as stand alone mixer take some learnin'
Integrating one into a DAW will take even more learnin'
Not all of them are even that user friendly, some are logical, many are illogical. And yes those pesky sub menus.
I would see if there is a user group for the mixer. We have a Yahoo group for the Yamaha's which is an invaluable resource to all of us.
But hang in there, expect it to take a while to get it where you want it.

Man..... it just gets worse. Just when I thought I was getting my head around this thing, it dies!

    Yep. Lost it's marbles.

Shut down as normal last night after a session. This morning the thing wont talk to the computer or itself. After much hair pulling and fiddling the display tells me that it has lost it's factory defaults.

A call to the local service centre tell me, "yep, no brains. Gotta go back for a brain transplant".

I've had this thing exactly one month and it dies on the aniversary of when I bought it!

I guess that's technology, yet it's a damn worry and mightily inconvienient. This thing was designed for both live and studio work. What happens in the middle of a gig if it decides to die? I will always have to have a back up desk. Sure doesn't inspire confidence.

At least the service company is going to pay the freight to and from.

Are you sure your routing is correct? I would think it should be as simple as routing each track in Sonar to the inputs/outputs of the Presonus. From there everything should function correctly.

Have you read the manual thoroughly? And sat down with the manual and worked through all the operational steps etc.. You have not mentioned it yet in your post. You talk about the Presonus site and Youtube but what about the manual.

This is not the sort of thing you can dive into and expect to use properly.

And if you have checked out the manual have you seen all these vids on that mixer:
