Is freezing audio and midi tracks as save as bouncing a whole project ?

Hi gents,
till now,  I ve been bouncing my finished project (all  tracks) to make sure,
that it is possible to work with the bounced tracks for example 5 years later and not missing any vst (i) aso.

My idea is to freeze all the tracks now instead of bouncing.
Is there anything that I overlook when I use freezing instead of bouncing for saving projects?

Thanks in advance

No, it should be basically the same. If you look in your project audio folder, you should see an audio file created for each of the frozen tracks. So as long as you have access to that audio file, you have access to your tracks (in any DAW).

Actually, there is some risk that you could encounter the opposite problem with MIDI tracks: you need to get at the MIDI data, and you can't unfreeze the track because the synth isn't available or some other problem occurs. I haven't run into this for a while, so it may be that SONAR handles this situation better than it used to, but it has been known to occur. In any case, it's a good idea to archive a version that has all the raw MIDI in it. In my case that usually happens by default in the course of saving new versions as the project develops.

Good advice from Scott & Dave.

I'd just like to add that the safest way by far, is to NEVER delete a plugin from your system because you never know which project might be referencing it, and the amount of space they consume is miniscule.

Its not a problem as far as I can tell. I have frozen tracks and used the same MIDI tracks for a different drum sample player without any problems. The MIDI is aways there.

Thanks for your attention,
So I will try to freeze a project on my old box and will see what happens, if I
open this project in my new box on which many pluggies of the old one  are not installed.
If it works, it ´s a real  time saver.
