Actually, there is some risk that you could encounter the opposite problem with MIDI tracks: you need to get at the MIDI data, and you can't unfreeze the track because the synth isn't available or some other problem occurs. I haven't run into this for a while, so it may be that SONAR handles this situation better than it used to, but it has been known to occur. In any case, it's a good idea to archive a version that has all the raw MIDI in it. In my case that usually happens by default in the course of saving new versions as the project develops.
