Is it just me, or is the way Sonar lists track sends completely sloppy and unhelpful?
Case in point: I wanted to set up a kick/bass sidechain, so I insert the compressor on the bass track and sidechain enable it. Then I go to the kick track to route the send. Only I'm looking up and down the list of send possibilities and can't find anything that says "Bass" (the name of the track) or "10" (the number of the track) or "Trillian 1" (the synth that's on the track). In fact barely any of the sends listed are clearly named, they all required thinking about before I worked out exactly what they were. And after an age, I finally worked out that the one I wanted was named "Track Compressor(input 2) - Kontakt 5 1"
So why does it say Kontakt? And then I remembered - the bass track in question originally pointed to an instance of Kontakt which is now long gone. In fact at this point in time, "Kontakt 5 1" is now the name of an instance of Kontakt on a keyboard track. No wonder I was confused. So I can only assume that when you change the softsynth on a track, the part of Sonar that deals with sends doesn't bother updating the name of the synth in its list, and just goes with whatever synth you originally had on the track. Am I right?
Anyway, I find this labeling system to be messy, clumsy, flawed and completely unhelpful. It just seems like one of those areas of Sonar that remains "unfinished" to this day.
