Is it possible to enlarge letters and numbers on the Sonar screen?
Apologies if I am missing something obvious, but is there a way to enlarge the letters and numbers on the Sonar screen to make them easier to read? I've searched in the Sonar menus, the documentation, and the forum, and I can't find anything about this.

Be careful, this has caused issues before?

Yes that is for a Windows system wide change, NOT just Sonar!

Another option is changing monitor resolution.

I learned this the hard way. Yes, you can change the windows global text size but Sonar is designed for "normal" (100%) font sizes. Anything else will result in truncated text or no text at all in some views. Monitor size/resolution is about the only answer.

So I see. Thanks for the link. This is a bummer. I had hoped that the power to work with point size of type would be part of the theme editor. Oh well. The ability to change the color of pretty much anything on the screen is visually useful, but I sure would love to be able actually make letters and numbers easier to read. I do use the big time view, but it would be very useful, for example, to just be able to place the cursor on the time ruler without squinting to make sure I'm putting it in the right place. I definitely do not have champion eyesight, but I don't typically have a problem viewing anything on my monitor because font point size is almost always enlargeable. I get that Sonar depends on making many functions available simultaneously on the desktop, but, still, I'm surprised Sonar doesn't have something that enhances type readability. Readability is part of ease of use. Could this function be a future addition to the theme editor? Would it be difficult to implement?

Actually...don't give up quite yet... I checked out the Windows Ease of Access functions. There's a Magnifier which if you're anything like me, when you first try it you'll think it's useless because the default magnifies a small section to fit the entire screen. However it's highly configurable. There are keyboard shortcuts to open and close it, as well as various viewing options - "lens" covers a user-settable amount of screen real estate, and you can zoom in and out with the lens with keyboard short cuts. If you zoom all the way out, the lens shows the normal screen size, but then you can zoom in on small type. There's also a "dock" mode that puts a magnified strip along the top, and magnifies whatever is under the mouse cursor. You might find this serves your needs best. Just don't dismiss the magnifier out of hand without learning how it works...you can customize it really easily to fit your needs and workflow. Just being able to bring it in and out using shortcuts is a big help. On a related subject, I too have always found the timeline numbers etc. too teeny. However modifying a theme for high contrast in the timeline makes all the difference in the world.

Forgive my ignorance, if necessary: "modifying a theme for high contrast in the timeline" -- That's a Sonar-specific theme editor function? (I haven't yet experimented with the theme editor.)

papercut Forgive my ignorance, if necessary Only if you forgive my lack of clarity "modifying a theme for high contrast in the timeline" -- That's a Sonar-specific theme editor function? (I haven't yet experimented with the theme editor.) Yes. The first thing I did with the Theme Editor was to make the timeline super-visible, and saturated the crap out of the red punch-in enabled button.

FWIW I'm coming up with a theme that isn't exactly restful on the eyes, but is designed for demoing DAW techniques at workshops with LCD projectors. It's super high contrast.

FWIW I run the system font size @ 125% on one of my windows 7 systems without any Sonar issues.

That's what I do and tho they're small there are issues. Certain views will make text disappear and button/screen text will have fewer letters/numbers showing... as I mentioned earlier.
