Is it possible to make VSTI with your own sounds?

Sampler takes a sound and stretches it over all the pitches but if you want a sound on one key and another specific sound on the next, is there any way to do this?
so i have choir sound samples wav. for many different pitches but is there any way to make it into an instrument so that i can compose midi with these sounds??

Must be a dozen ways, Example, I recorded my own drum kit and simply put the wave files in the Session Drummer sample file folder. I can now play my own drums with MIDI.
So     try the same with any sampler playback VST that uses WAVEs.

Multisampling is a little bit more involved than the way Session Drummer does it. It still is somewhat simple. In any sampler you will find a way to load a sample and set the lo key and hi key. Make sure that the lo and hi key is set to your taste. Ex=  Kick Drum, Lo key=c3,Hi Key=c3. This would put the sample on just c3. You also will probably find a root key adjustment. That needs to be set to. Beware that moving the root key is almost like tuning the sample. Higher root key=lower tuning,Lower root key=higher tuning. If you want to cover several keys with one particular sample, Lo key=c3,Hi key=g3. Now the sample spreads across the range of keys from c3 to g3. Fairly simple for one shot samples. It really gets interesting when you multilayer velocitys. You can control the texture of the sound of the instrument on a specific key by having soft samples in a particular range. Check out the drumkits in Session Drummer. Hit the key softly, sounds round and thick. Hit the key hard, it sounds like a rim shot. I have many self made drumkits I constructed myself in samplers. Any of the high end piano programs are made this way as well. Soft key=soft sound,Hard key=aggressive edgy sound. Hope this helps. Really need to know possibly what sampler you are using. Most lower end samplers will only let you load one sample. IMO, these are pretty useless as far as expressive instruments are concerned. Good Luck!

Sidroe thanks a lot for your reply. Can you tell me if you know any sampler that does multisampling that works with sonar? Not sure if kontakt does this, but I tried kontakt and it doesn't make any sound on sonar... Any thought?

Can't DropZone do this by using Multi-samples?

Kontakt is the mother of samplers. Of course you can do it with Kontakt.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

No sound on Sonar? How have you inserted it? Instrument Track? First Synth Audio Output? Multiple outputs? Do you have a midi track routed to Kontakt? If you can't get any sound using Kontakt I suggest you focus on that problem first.

That always makes me sigh in certain way.... Someone has bought a 400 dollar software and simply states in a subordinate clause that it's not working...

I would make a lot of noise....

Chappel is right. Make sure you have a midi track assigned to trigger the audio track you have Kontakt in. I trust you know how to do that. Be sure the audio monitor button is activated on the tracks. Load an instrument into Kontakt just to see if you are hearing anything. Make sure you are on the same midi channel all the way around.

Exactly- first get it working with the default sounds , then start mucking with your own. Man I remember it was not that long ago that samplers cost more than the car I'm driving. :

I remember going to a showcase in a music store in Atlanta more years ago than I like to remember. Everyone was in awe of this thing called a Fairlight! I just shook my head and thought,"This will never catch on." WOW, what a flashback that was.

I actually prefer Beer Sampling over sound, But that's the other forum I belong to.

I tried kontakt and it doesn't make any sound on sonar... Any thought?

You spent $400 on Kontakt and then abandoned it because you couldn't make it work?

I can only draw one of three conclusions from that...

    1. You were using an illegal copy, in which case nobody here is going to help you

    2. You are very wealthy, in which case nobody here will help you - for free, anyway

    3. You cannot be bothered to read the instructions, in which case nobody here is going to read them for you because we already read them once and they weren't that exciting the first time

My sincere apologies if there is a fourth scenario I didn't think of.

P.S. Yes, Kontakt is indeed the solution you are looking for.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

In the interest of being charitable, a fourth scenario is the Kontakt demo. I can't remember if it includes sounds or not...
