I sent them last night - the message didn't bounce. Spam filter, maybe? Let me know if you still didn't get it.

I resent the two files to cAPS' address and both of 6strings' addresses, but this time I put each file in a separate message, in case it was a size issue. Hope they make it through! <edit for clarity:> er, that's re-sent, not resent. I have nothing against the files.

OK...so I had a chance to give it a listen and I have come to the same conclusion I am sure you have...and that is this, while it is technically possible as RTGraham has shown both cAPS and me to remove reverb from a soundfont after it has been converted to a waveform but it is not audibly pleasing. The file becomes dead sounding and lifeless...but lets be clear reverb-free after it has had reverb printed to the soundfont. so the answer to the question I originally asked is YES. Thanks you guys...your the bomb.. 6strings

ORIGINAL: 6stringsat100mph OK...so I had a chance to give it a listen and I have come to the same conclusion I am sure you have...and that is this, while it is technically possible as RTGraham has shown both cAPS and me to remove reverb from a soundfont after it has been converted to a waveform but it is not audibly pleasing. The file becomes dead sounding and lifeless...but lets be clear reverb-free after it has had reverb printed to the soundfont. so the answer to the question I originally asked is YES. Thanks you guys...your the bomb.. 6strings I think I'd have to agree. Again, the de-verb job I did was super-quick-and-dirty (at least by my standards - it took less than 10 minutes), but it seems that much of the drums' character that appealed to 6string came from the reverb. Also, I de-verbed the full stereo track, and perhaps it would be more effective to de-verb the individual drum samples, so that the snare's reverb profile doesn't get removed from the kick, etc. The kick in particular sounded wimpy to me after processing. But then you get into the question of how much time you want to spend on things like removing reverb, and how much on more creative pursuits. However, if someone wants to send me the individual drum samples ripped from the soundfont (since I never learned my way around Vienna very well), I'd be happy to dry them out and send them back for soundfont reassembly. No obligation, though. It's always fun to find a thread like this that makes you try to think outside the box. Helps stimulate me. Regards, all.
