Is it worth to buy project5?

Guys I need some explanation here. I'm a SONAR user and I didn't tried project 5 earlier. But today I got to know from the sonar forum, project 5 is a MIDI composing tool and it has several built in synthesizers to work with MIDI.

All I want to know is about the synthesizers in the Project 5 its other special features + its rewire capability with SONAR. Because I like to know whether its worth to spent some bucks on that.

Please help me....

what do you think we're going to say on the P5 forum?

here's what you do, download the demo and see if P5 could have a place in your workflow -- apparently some Sonar users have found that to be truer than others

P5 does Rewire into Sonar -- there are various ways to do that -- th eone that makes the most sense to me is open as many rewire channels in P5 as tracks plus 5 to cover the auto selection of master and 4 aux busses. Then in Sonar bypass the master and 4 aux busses and bounce to track the remaining channels. That's one way to do it.

The download will not have Rene's Dimension -- which is a jewel you'll just have to take our word for that I guess.

I would say for $199 upgrade for Sonar users you can't go wrong, even if you only use dimension and the 3 gig content that it ships with. Like wrench said try the demo out, you can rewire and test the work flow.

I use S4 and I bought P5 thinking I was only intrested in using it as a launch pad for plugins. I did that for awile and it works okay.

Now I find I spend more and more time in P5. Aside from the occasional critter running by it's really much deeper than first impressions and much more fun than Sonar.

Unfortunatly you can't demo Demension (not in the demo), the sample synth that comes with P5. I think that by itself is worth way way more than the cost of P5. There is no end of the things this honker can't do. You can also use it as plugin in sonar. Yes, thats 3 gigs of samples and we're not talkin crap samples here.

I have S4, and hardly touch it. I find P5v2 to invite creativity. That said, IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!

However, to answer your real question, I'll ask another --

Are you familiar with z3ta+? If you are, then you know that it is a splendid synth. If not, check it out -- I believe there is a trial version. The creator of z3ta+ also designed Dimension, and IMNSHO, Dimension is worth the purchase price of P5 alone.

    Nuff said!

I have S4 too, and like Mike hardly touch it. I rarely record audio which IMO is sonar's forte. I sometimes rewire p5 into sonar and bounce p5 tracks to audio for mixing and mastering. Rewiring works fine for me, though it adds a step which I'd be happy to eliminate. Haven't ordered P5 v2 yet, but I suspect that when I do, I'll use sonar even less, now that P5 has audio and freeze.

Others have mentioned the synths, especially Dimension. With the demo you can see if psyn, velocity, ds864 and npulse float your boat.

Ditto and tritto. I'm also a Sonar user, and while it's still my primary software, I've found P5 v2 to be a good *creative* tool, which resulst in things I wouldn't typically do in Sonar. That to me is the best thing about using both.

Dimension? No comment. OK, OK, maybe one... it's my favorite synth right now.

    Hello,

Well put it this way, Since I got P5 I haven't hardly used Sonar, Not that I don't like Sonar anymore, It's just that I have more fun in P5 and I think it's easier to use than all the other programs that I have. I'm very pleased with it, very good investment.

    See ya, Rockitglider

    Thanks for help friends.
