Is my Lenovo T61 good for Music Creator 6?
My Lenovo T61 runs Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.00GHz and 2GB RAM. Seems that Music Creator 6 requirements are slightly higher on the processor (Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHz). Do you think that matters in the end? Br, Mikko

My guess is it doesn't matter. More important is to get a proper audio interface, if you haven't got one already. Trying to do fluent DAW work the integrated chips turn you old before your time. You're not telling what OS you're using, but whatever it is, if possible, adding some RAM would most likely be useful, too. If you're on a 32 bit system, it can use about 3 Gb, and if it's a 64 bit system, 8 Gb might do good (depending on what kind of projects and plugins you use).
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Edit: Oops, posted an empty message accidentally. Thanks, Kalle! It's 64-bit Win7. And I'm about to get an audio interface indeed. (Which one to choose is another story.) You are probably right about RAM. That's not a huge investment anyway. Also, MC6 is so inexpensive that I think I just take the risk and see what happens.

Yeah the advice to get an interface is spot on. You can use the factory card but I'd wager it will suck pretty bad. Especially the bigger the project and when you try to use synths, it goes off the cliff. On the interfaces.... see what others are using successfully. M-audio, Presonus, and Focusrite are good ones to look at. Decide if you just need audio, midi or both. I recommend getting one that handles both in the same interface... it makes life so easy. Focusrite is one manufacturer that I highly recommend you look at. I use one of their interfaces. They have really nice preamps built in which means I don't need to ahve a seperate mixer board wasting money and desk space in my studio. Buy one that fits your needs.

Forumite called Beagle has suggestions for "SONAR-compatible" interfaces on his web-site. Find a post by him, the link is there.

Since MC 6 is a 32-bit program, even on a 64-bit system it will only be able to utilize 2-4 GB of RAM.

Greg is correct. you'd have to upgrade to Sonar X1 Studio or Producer to take advantage of 64bit application using more than 4G of RAM
