Is my technique that...

Old disco musicians like me mostly faded away and hired rappers to carry the ball....

not me. when midi got to me, it was all too cool. Now I am setting up an old fashioned midi studio and I was hoping I wouldn't have to learn the modern riffs...(er gifs) so
maybe all you older foggys can get out of the kids way...
and we can help each other build it..(what ever it is)

right...

My woodshop teacher in High School said I could not build anything without a plan.

I built an Acoustic 360 Bass Cabinet (see how old I am) without a plan and used it for 2 years before I could buy the commercial version.

Side by side, mine was just a little bit thinner sounding. I sold it for $300 with the speaker in it.

Disco was an inspiration to me. It was what inspired me to stop playing live music altogether and get a day job.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Hey don't dis the disco!!

It's funny, no one will admit it, but many elements of today's music come straight out of a disco textbook.

    open hi-hat on the upbeat
    wah pedal on rhythm guitar
    funky bass lines

I've just described the Chili Peppers, Lenny Kravitz, and half the bands from LA.
But who am I to talk? I'm the worlds biggest ABBA fan ...who, by the way, Madonna sampled in one of her most recent hits

I'm glad to hear it was good for SOMETHING.

Some old disco (redundant?) comes on the radio, my girlfriend will sing along, to music I swear I've never heard before. On the other hand, I love Pick Up the Pieces
