I still have the CW Tuner, but it may be a carryover from the S8 installation. I would guess it's included with X1, and you just need to re-run the installer and check it. It's a DX Effect, so there shouldn't be any scanning issues.

But the GR tuner is much more precise in my experience.

According to the manual the Cakewalk Tuner is included in X1. Page 1259.

I otherwise couldn't have known because I also have Sonar 8.5.3 on my system. So just checking the FX in X1 wouldn't have answered that question.

Ok ... I just put my X1 install DVD in and my 8.5 install DVD in ...

When I do a 'Custom Installation', under the list of 'Audio Plugins' ...

8.5 does lists the Cakewalk Tuner as an option.

X1 does not list the Cakewalk Tuner as an option.

It wouldn't be the only error in the manual Bub. I am just relating what CW has written.

No problem John. I didn't even see your post because I was loading the X1 and 8.5 DVD's and going through the steps and typing my response. You posted while I was doing all that and I didn't see it.

You are 100% right ... it is listed in the manual. That's what made me question myself as to whether it was included or not. It says it only supports 44.1/16 so I haven't tried it in a long time. I seem to remember that being a problem.

Cakewalk Tuner was not included with X1. That's why it's not discussed in the SONAR X1 Power! book.

Things I hear all too often in my studio:

These strings? Oh, they're pretty new - I guess about 6 months old. They were on the guitar when I bought them.

The battery? errrr, this bass has a BATTERY?! Where?!

It's in tune - look, the tuner says it's in. No, the intonation is fine, look, all the open strings are in on the tuner.

A trust rod? A thrust rod? Nope, I don't have one.

There's a tuner in Guitar Rig that works nicely, but you'll have to insert the plug-in which might be a pain at times.

it is a pain ... i like GR but you should not have to open GR just to tune a guitar/bass..i did a custom install of 8.5 of just the CW tuner and the pantheon reverb for X1.. i made templates that have guitar/bass with the CW tuner fixed into the fx bin, for quick on the fly tuning..

I still think the extremely old AP Guitar Tuner 1.02 is one of the best guitar tuners out there. Very sensitive and accurate. Still works great for me in Win7 32-bit. It's a standalone but runs concurrently with Sonar if you have share drivers checked in Sonar. They eventually came out with a version 3 of the tuner, but I actually think 1.02 is better. Very small footprint, and it's free of course:

Here are a couple of free guitar tuner VST's in case you don't have Sonar 8.5 or are looking for something better. I tested both and they both work up to 96kHz. Both are x86 but work fine via Bitbridge.

GVST - GTune (I personally like this one better than C-Tune. There are two, the skinned one is very nice looking.)

C-Tune (C-Tune needs to be set up. Click the icon at the bottom right of the box when you open the VST in Sonar.)

    Hope this helps.

Using 64-bit Sonar Producer X1c the tuner is right where its supposed to be. Its an audio effect.

I don't see it as an audio effect with Sonar X1C Producer.... I have a clean install not an upgrade.
Got a screenshot of where it is in the menu?

    Thanks...

You guys are starting to drive me a little crazy...

Okay, I just launched the install from my SONAR X1 DVD and the Cakewalk Tuner is NOT... I repeat... NOT in the Advanced Install list, which means it's not included with SONAR X1.

If you are seeing it on your system, it's because you inherited it from a previous installation of a previous version.

    The mystery is solved...

By coincidence I reinstalled the Cakewalk Tuner earlier this week, I did it by doing a custom install from the 8.5 disc.  By further coincidence, I had to ask where to retrieve older FX and was advised by the OP, LJB, on another thread.    You know more than you know.

SONAR Platinum rolling updates:  Intel i7 2600k on Gigabyte P67A UD 7: 16GB RAM:  W7 x64 Home Premium.
