Is the Sonar Platinum demo just like the real certified program

Is the splat demo just like the real certified program (except for save is disabled).?

If so:
How do you fix the colors?  Everything is blackish. Are there only 2 "themes"?

Are all the user import functions disengaged? (Like key bindings) (and colors).

Is there a way to float just the transport?

How do you edit clip envelopes. Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through just to create, raise or lower a clip and then add a node and vice versa. "Smart" tool? Really?  I'm sitting here look and at a clip with a gain envelope on it. I just want to add a couple nodes. Used to be, you select a region, right click, add nodes to selection, pull it up or down. Simple. Either that or just, you know, click on the envelope and add some nodes. Now, there's like 3 extra steps with the smart tool. Why??? The worst part is those three steps aren't even practically laid out.

How about, Delete multiple nodes at once without deleting all the nodes? Really, they haven't fixed this yet?

Uh oh. I just noticed I'm starting to complain. Hmm.. Sorry. Well, I'm really really working hard to actually like this app and move on from 8.5. Actually it's really incredible that this is basically the same program it was 10-15 years ago with more fluff. They just keep re-arranging the commands and adding more junk. Then, take away colors, then add colors back. etc etc. oops, there goes the attitude again.
Sorry..

Thanks

A lot of folk here came from 8.5 and beyond. I'd say the learning curve for most was pretty steep.

But I guess that's the difference. Most do learn. And when you do, you will realise that Splat is light years ahead of 8.5, both in features and performance.

There's more to come on colours, but the present format, for me, absolutely awesome.

good luck

+1 many/most users have moved up from 8.5. I did. And I am not going back. Probably take more than a few minutes with the demo to really see the differences other than the superficial ones- color was an obvious step back in the x series, but is being addressed- but whatever - if you're happy with 8.5 stay with it.

I don't think it has the third party plug-ins.

Stay tuned. Not only stay tuned, but don't stray too far from the radio, if you catch my drift.

Yes and no. You can float the control bar, and close all modules except the transport. However you'll probably want at least some of the other modules in there.

How do you edit clip envelopes.

See Week #92 in Friday's Tip of the Week. I think you'll find it's a really fast way to work with clip envelopes.

How about, Delete multiple nodes at once without deleting all the nodes? Really, they haven't fixed this yet?

To delete multiple contiguous nodes, click+drag across the timeline or within the clip to define the region that contains the nodes, then hit Delete.

To delete multiple non-contiguous nodes, ctrl+click on the nodes you want to delete, then hit Delete.

Superficially, it may seem similar but you really need to approach it as a different program. Those who want the X series to be like 8.5 should probably stick with 8.5. However, I think those who've scaled the learning curve have generally found that the X series gets projects done much faster...that's certainly been true in my case (notwithstanding some time spent on colorful language when X1 first appeared ). I would never go back to 8.5.
