Is there a method to use Sonitus plugins in other DAW?

Hello.

I'm used to using 2 DAW(Sonar X1(2) and Ableton live8) depending on genres.
I want to use Sonitus plugins in Ableton live 8 but don't know how to do.

I tried to copy every Sonitus***.dll files in "cakewalk/shared plugins" folder to
the vst folder(cakewalk/vstplugins) but Ableton doesn't recognize the dll files(sonitus plugins) and
doesn't appear in vst menu (of course other plugins in the folder are recognized).

My OS is windows 7 x64, Sonar X1 and X2 are 64bit and Ableton Live 8 is 32bit.
I tried to install 32bit Sonitus plugins and copied but Ableton still doesn't recognize.

I searched this forum and found one related thread but couldn't get sollution so I tried to post here.
Is there anyone who know about this please help me.

Thanks
JunL

you can't; the ones included with sonar are dx not vst; you could upgrade to the vst version in the store, but they are 32bit only... hth

I just ran a quick test of this.  I loaded up Brainspawn's Forte, which is a VST host wrapper (like a rack for soft synths), and I was able to insert the Sonitus delay wih no problem.

I just had the path specified in the options for Forte and it both found and loaded the Sonitus Delay just fine.

I'd buy a set of 64 bit Sonitus VSTs but it seems like they don't exist.

yes, i 've been to the store hoping to so too but no go; i ended up with the wavearts suite as my bread'n'butters

also yes, as bob points out, you could use a rapper of some kind to expose them in other non-dx hosts

another solution is to rewire live into sonar.. I'd do that myself , IF I owned live, but they stink at delivering their product (I cancelled after 4 weeks of waiting) .  I'm guessing when bitwig is released, it might be a nice wake up call for them.

    Blimey!

Do you use the Sonitus suite there, if so how?  I think that was the question.
You'd need a DX capable host to run DX plugins, or a wrapper or use Sonar's DX capability via Rewire.

Mike why would you need to buy a set of 64 bit Sonitus plugs?  You already have a set they come with Sonar.  Open up your 64 bit version of Sonar and you'll see they are right there.

Is it a failing of Sonar that it in some way still supports the old Windows DX standard?  I think not.

i'm sure mike has he own reasons, but i wanted to use them in a x64 vst host without wrapping (i'm x64 pure)

no, but if it's at the expense of other current non-legacy standards, then maybe yes?

It's cool that the Sonitus suite is so well-liked by the people the use them.

There's probably little or no mileage in marketing them as VST's now though as plug-in buyers tend to want to see a lot of froth with their purchases these days and tend to want them to represent some mythical piece of old iron rather than have them be the useful DSPs that the Sonitus plugs are.

It's a shame but there we are.

From what I can gather Mike's reasoning is that of a fellow that merely likes to read a menu at a Restaurant because he derives some perverse pleasure around the idea of choosing something that isn't on it.  Just yesterday he was advocating a recording application that doesn't support any kind of plug-in at all.

    He's such a rebel isn't he?

I'm sure everyone here is impressed.

I STILL use the Sonitus plug-ins all the time (yes, even the reverb for specific sounds). They really got it right the first time.

As to supporting DX, why not? I'm very glad several companies still support DX.

I still use DX plugs and I think its great that not only Cakewalk use DX but so do SONY and all my DX plugins from SONY and Cakewalk work in each others hosts.

If you want to see plain plugins have a look at the vanilla gui for all of SONY's DX plugins. not very pretty but they work a treat.

+1 for the Sony plugins. I use them all the time in Vegas, they work great, and they don't grab a whole lot of CPU either (excepting their impulse convolution reverb). WaveHammer is one of the best compressor/maximizers there is.
