Is there a mixer app that would work with Cakewalk or I am dreaming.

Hi fellows. I am recording and mixing on laptop. Moving from one place to another, I can not have a full setup with 2  screens. I want to be able to use android tablet to monitor mixer and hopefully change sliders. The only way I found is to use an app called Twomon which allows for wired connection of PC to Android for the Android tablet to act as a secondary screen... It works, but has some issues with connection at times and latency. Is there an app that is solid, that can shows mixer & meter levels of Cakewalk remotely?  Bluetooth perhaps?  Or I am living in dreamworld?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

TouchDAW works on both Android and IOS and implements the full Mackie control protocol.

I've used it over WiFi and it's rock solid.

msmcleod, thank you for reply. Does TouchOSC show actual Volume meters from Cakewalk or just have slider control?
    Thank you.

Apologies - I get these apps mixed up!

TouchOSC is basically a slider control interface, well it's much more than that as it can control LOADS of parameters. But I don't think metering is involved.

There's another app, TouchDAW which is the one I've used. This can emulate a Mackie Control, so I expect the metering will be the same as on the Mackie MCU (i.e. it appears under the track name as a horizontal bar).

I've not tried it with metering enabled though, so I'm not sure whether this does actually work. I'd be surprised if it doesn't though, as the display part of the MCU is basically dumb. It shows whatever your DAW sends it.

    Which one did you try?

TouchDAW is basically a copy of the Mackie MCU, and is about as comprehensive as it gets.

With the possible exception of the Roland VS700 (which is obviously hardware), I don't think there's a Cakewalk compatible surface that comes close to it for functionality.

Mark, it is complex, yes, but at the same time it is a bit buggy. I was looking for something "on the fly" connect... I think you can connect TouchDaw by bluetooth, but it is tricky and not very stable.
One option I was looking at is getting a small usb-C Alt connection monitor that supports video and touch (and I believe power too) signals via single cable. That way you can "detach" Cakewalk mixer module and just move it to the other screen....
The wireless Windows (Miracast) option for screen mirror has too much lag, hopefully wired connection will solve that. There only a tiny handful of these small monitors available that support this type of connection. I think, I just need to be a bit more patient... :)

Are you specifically looking for touchscreen capability? If not, the most reliable solution would be to simply add an external monitor via your laptop's VGA, DVI or HDMI port.

Otherwise, your best bet would be an app such as iDisplay that lets you use a tablet as an external display over USB. I tried one of them once and was disappointed by the laggy response times. Some use Bluetooth, but I would expect a hard-wired USB connection to be far more reliable, and probably faster.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
