Is there a place in the Cakewalk Universe where it explains how to use a VST arpeggiator?

Is there a place in the Cakewalk Universe where it explains how to use a VST arpeggiator?

No one seems to be able to tell me and I can't seem to find anyone at Cakewalk to point me in the right direction.

I own two different VST arpeggiators, Obelisk and Cream, and I can't seem to get any midi information into them. That's the problem so far. I don't know what happens later on the chain because I never get that far.

I have no problems with soft synth instruments or effects. I go into the synth rack and make sure everything has a midi output.

Cakewalk used to have a manual, probably 2000-2500 pages, for how to use an earlier version of Cakewalk. Is that somewhere that can be downloaded? Is there a manual for the current version? Maybe it would be in there.

If there is no longer a manual for Sonar, then is there someplace in the Cakewalk site where I can ask someone who works at Cakewalk how do use a VST arpeggiator?

I am getting a little ticked with Cakewalk. A couple of years ago they offered a lifetime membership and I signed up and now they said I didn't. No way to prove that.

Anyway, I'm 66, my vision is failing as is my patience. Can anyone help me?

Okay, I can't seem to bounce midi information from any soft synth. I check the midi output on the synth rack.

I installed Cream demo yesterday, played around with it, and got it working to where it plays an arpeggiator pattern.  I created 2 instrument tracks. First track is Z3ta2 but any Cakewalk synth should work.  Track 2 is Cream.  I enabled echo input on both.  On Track 2 I set Midi In to the channel 1 that my Midi keyboard is sending.  I opened up the Cream VST in track 2.  At the top is a VST drop down menu where I checked "Enable Midi Output".  (This is important and I was wondering if you had done that.)  Just a little below that inside the VST GUI is Midi Input and Output which both seems to default to 1 which I left as is.  I set track 1 Midi Input to Cream 1 MIdi Chan 1.  I can then hold a chord on the midi keyboard and hear a pattern playing.  So at this point, it seems to be generally working.

So now I'm venturing into trying to understand how to play other patterns and modify them to my liking.  I opened the Cream VST again, the Preset shows ----- which I believe is the default pattern.  If I click that area, I get drop down showing Factory Bass, lead, rhythm and misc patterns.  Choosing them will play different patterns if I hold some keys down.  One unsolved problem I occasionally have is when I choose the right and left arrows to choose a pattern, Sonar sometimes crashes.  But if I click the drop down to select a pattern it seems ok.  I figure I can work around that and hopefully figure more out later.

The 2500 page PDF manual can still be found in your Cakewalk folder at: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum

DAW: CbB; Sonar Platinum, and others ...

I don't use the arppegiator much. It's useful to know you can control the pitches the arppegiator can use.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
