Is there a reason Cakewalk shouldn't sell/make/endorse a line of computers?
For even a small markup (from a custom builder, company, etc), could Cakewalk not have a line of computers that they know will have a minimum or VERY minimum found bugs in Sonar X? their flagship product ?? There could be various entry points of "grunt" and pricing... and even laptops, etc that have been tested on and therefore recommended. Reading thread after thread of bugs, experiencing them myself, and even the seemingly negative impact X3d has had in its' first few hours of rollout, I'd be inclined to pay an extra $100 for a computer that was the SAME ONE used for testing. I imagine this idea will get a lot of hollers... but I'd think it could be refined. Or at least, why shouldn't Cake make a statement about what computers they test on, components, etc, etc...?
No different then some other products, in some aspect it might seem. Computers in cars... where else..? Maybe I'm missing something and computers built on Monday are still different than ones build on Tuesday. Lastly, I only say this because some people are so [rightfully] upset it doesn't work on their system...and then yet, others will say it works on theirs. I'm talking audio interfaces...everything recommended. Pick an OctaPre to an RME if need be... but have CAKE test it first....then sell it thru the Cake store. I'd bet they'd make it worth their while too, money wise.

Well this is totally awesome and not sure how I missed it. I've seen the audio cards page before but not the computers. This is really good stuff....thx Scott.

I've been a Cakewalk user since Pro Audio 4.0 (first version that offered audio recording). While not officially "endorsed"... it's pretty well known that our DAWs work well with Sonar.

Hello. Hey Jim R., glad to see you are still around. I'm not convinced the problem is with the computers. I've been a Cakewalk user since back in the MIDI only days. I generally did not experience persistent problems with any Cakewalk software - not the MIDI only software, not with Pro Audio, and not with Sonar. My last version (sonar 8.5) ran flawlessly, huge track counts, hours of uninterrupted use. Until I got Sonar X2. Sonar X2 seems to have lots of minor problems (why does it keep telling me one track of a project has been assigned to a non-functioning output and will not sound, when in fact the track is assigned to the Main outs and works perfectly?), and I am experiencing one major problem that I have detailed in another thread. This on a computer that does nothing but audio recording and editing (no internet surfing or games, etc). My impression is that Cakewalk's quality has declined overall. I'm not sure we can blame all problems on the computer.

I don't recall saying/inferring that all Cakewalk related issues were specific to hardware. I am a firm believer in making sure the "foundation" (hardware) is sound/robust. ie: If Sonar is randomly crashing on a frequent basis, it makes sense to rule the hardware in/out as a culprit.
