Is there a way to copy Marker names to a text doc?
Big live string-of-songs project, and a ready made track list setting there in the markers view (or the names of bounced-to-track song mixes -less likely?

Try the following (although I can't guarantee it will work): Open the window that displays the Marker names Hold down your left mouse button and drag over all the marker names and times Ctrl+C (to copy) Open MSWord Click on Edit>Paste Special>Unformatted text You *should* be able to add appropriate spaces and/or tab the text.

In Word you have to click on Edit at the top LH corner of the screen, that opens a drop down menu, you can then click on Paste Special... I'm at work, Wayne, so I can't try it on your behalf but I'll give it a go tonight when I get home.

It rather depends on whether you've managed to get some text onto the clipboard in the first place. It won't work with S7.

In Sonar 7 and 6, when I select all the markers in Marker View and copy them, nothing gets into the clipboard that Word is able to recognize: the Paste and Paste Special items are completely grayed out. Nor can markers be pasted into a Notepad txt document. As far as I can tell, the only way to copy marker names is to open each one, copy it, switch to Word (or whatever), and paste it. Repeat. Lots of tedious clicking and switching. (At least the marker name is already selected when the marker is open.) If you have a lot of markers, you could try taking a screen shot of Marker View, and then running the image through an OCR program to convert it to text. Is it worth it? It should be possible to copy markers as text, and also to export them as a separate text file. It should be possible to then import those marker files back into the project and into new projects. Same with regions... except Sonar doesn't have regions....

I'm really not trying to stir anything up but the Markers View allows the option of printing the markers. Why the need for a text document? If it's (as I suspect after re-reading the OP) a way of adding titles to some CD labeling software apps, I don't get it. That is, IMO, laziness taken to the extreme. It should be possible to then import those marker files back into the project and into new projects. Why would I want markers from another project to be copied into different project? BTW, it is possible to copy & paste markers from one project to another (although, I still don't know why I would want to do that)...

I use a ton of markers during my music creation to keep track of the different scenes and changes. Being able to copy markers would keep me from having to retype my markers in a WORD file. I use Sonar live - quite often with the Big Time meeter showing the measure/time counts. I always have a sheet in front of me when I'm directing the group thats performing live with my music that contains a "measure to marker" layout. If I could copy the measure to marker layout as it shows in the marker layout menu, they I wouldn't have to keep re-typing it for every song.....or copy and pasting about 50-75 markers and their assiciated measures - in Word. BTW where in SONAR 8 is the ability to print markers?

"Views"-->"Markers" (or F8 unless you've altered keyboard shortcuts)...Select the markers you wish to copy..."Ctrl+C"...Disable all but the "Markers" option... BTW where in SONAR 8 is the ability to print markers? Under the "File" option (at the very bottom) you'll probably see a small rectangle that shows a few arrows pointing to the right...Clicking on that will open more options...Printing is one of them...

I have at times wanted to have different sets of markers available in a project, e.g., a basic structural set augmented with additional cue points. Being able to export and import marker sets would make that possible. Why would I want markers from another project to be copied into different project? BTW, it is possible to copy & paste markers from one project to another (although, I still don't know why I would want to do that)... It's correct that markers can already be copied/pasted between projects. This is desirable, for example, when creating a slave or other variation of a project without starting from a full Save As version of the original. That is, IMO, laziness taken to the extreme. Perhaps. But reducing the need to retype already-typed text, or to manually type auto-generated text (e.g., filenames, timestamps) is good. There are a number of dialogs or displays whose contents should be copyable to the clipboard. One example: there have been many times I've wanted to copy the file name and/or path from the Clip Properties-Audio Files tab. The Project Files list is another dialog whose contents should be copyable, as are various dialogs or panes from the Plugin Manager. (I can imagine someone wanting to copy the rows of a Drum Map to a text file, but then drum maps should be saved as plain text anyway.) Note that being able to print is not the same as having live text.

One of possible workarounds is that you can install virtual PDF printer, then create PDF file from your marker list; open it in Acrobat Reader, copy text and paste it into text processor for the further editing and printing. I use this utility for PDF creation - http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php So, open Marker View, go to File > [three little triangles >>> at the bottom] > Print > choose Bullzip as a printer.

Ooo now THAT's clever!!! hehehehehe I use a similar PDF printer called Cute PDF Writer available at www.CutePDF.com. I just tried it with that and it works beautifully! I'll have to check out Bullzip. I love those kinds of utilities. OT, but speaking of PDFs, someone here (I forget who) a while back recommended Foxit Reader as an alternative to the Acrobat Reader. It's much faster and much nicer. www.foxitsoftware.com

Another workaround is to use some "text capture" utility. Just Google "text capture" and you will find many shareware programs with ability to read text from any window and save it as TXT file. I could not find any freeware though.

Well, of course, when I got home last night domestic matters took precedence, and, not to put too fine a point on it, I completely forgot to try my work-around. But since the PDF capture outlined by Vovchik seems to have had the desired effect, I think a sitting ovation is in order. <claps hands>

Also - I haven't tried this mind you 1. Install a generic/text only printer from the add printer option on the control panel 2. Point that printer to FILE: as the port, not LPT1: etc as usual. 3. Print something to that printer. It should bring up a file dialogue and you can choose an output file 4. The file should then be plain text, since the printer is generic/text only However I haven't tried this, just should work.

Acrobat will install a 'print driver' called Acrobat Distiller. You could print your stuff to a PDF and edit it there. You were talking about Word. I know this works. Do it all the time in other random ways. $600 for Acrobat. Or pay me $400 and I'll copy/paste them for you! lol

Hi, all, I'm using Sonar X1 LE and there appears to be no way to print or copy the markers list. I go to Views > Markers and see the markers list, but when I click the File menu the Print and Print Preview options are grayed out. Someone mentioned making sure the window wasn't floating, but I see no option for that. I dock it, undock it, it doesn't matter. Is anyone else with this product able to print markers?

I recommend you start a new thread in the X forum. You'll have more people to help you and things might be different now since 8.5 etc.
