Is there a way to turn down the library audition volume
Yeah, when im looking for loops in the library, and i click to audition, the volume is painfully loud, and much louder than the volume of the project im working on........can i control the sample audition volume?

The media tab has a menu for routing audio preview. The default templates in SONAR use a separate bus for preview. A dedicated bus for preview provides a way to adjust preview volume independently from the rest of the project.

+1 Yup, that's the way to do it. Go into Sonar and you should see the preview bus, if you don't see just hit "h" on your keyboard to open the track manager and make sure your Preview bus isn't hidden. If the Preview bus has been deleted, then create a new bus and call it whatever you want to listen to your audio library. After the bus is created, lower the volume fader so the volume starts off rather low. Now go to the Media Tab and select "Auto Preview Bus and you should see a list of Buses. Find the one you created and named to listen to your audio library and select it, now restart Sonar (mine won't stay selected without a restart). Now you can listen to your audio library and adjust the fader oforthe desired level. Please route the bus to your outputs 1/2 not the master bus.

works out good too with the preview bus, as you can then add FX, EQ, etc. Probably obvious comment, but I almost always have a reverb in the buss if I'm using the media....at least for auditioning sakes.

cheers guys......another question i have is, if you find a good loop, unlike addictive drums, there isnt chorus/verse/fill tec......how do you guys tackle that?........The thought going through my head for fills is....Should i jump on the drums and do a quick fill, or use step sequencer.........but the maain problem would be getting the fill drum sound to sound similar to the loops production?

That's a major problem with using static loops. Many collections will have fills, but if not, you're "stuck". Generally loops don't have toms and crash cymbals though, sometimes layering works. You can generally get away with at least a crash and if the loop has a couple of snare hits, take one from earlier in the loop and paste it in later for a very simple "fill".

Yeah Sandapanda, right on, maybe that would be a good addition for sonar, loops that actually have chorus, verse, intro, ending and fills.......would be far more useful than just one off loops..........And yeah thats why i prefer to use addictive drums, or even real drums !!!........which i either play drums myself, which is hardwork, cause im still learning and the anxiety of f.......g up kills me, or i pay a session drummer, which is good, but expensive, and they often dont do what i %100 want........Plus you got to get good drum recordings, at least with loops, the production is top notch.........im considering, mixing loops with my drumming, and using that as a model for a session drummer to go off.

For rock, I highly recommend the Discrete Drums line of sample libraries. All the songs from the "Neo-" album on my web site use them. Even drummers think I'm using a real drummer...because technically, I am . Big Fish Audio makes "construction kit" libraries that include multiple complementary elements - not just for drums but bass, FX, etc. Don't know what kind of music you want to do, but some of the trance-oriented ones break it down to individual tracks for hi-hat, kick, etc. I particularly like the libraries by Sunny LAX.
