Is there any 22nm tech that will soon replace the 3930k on the Intel schedule?

Is there any 22nm tech that will soon replace the 3930k on the Intel schedule?

Will there be power savings with 4 memory channels and 6 cores?

I want it all! :-)

Is there anything happening in the next couple months?

Thanks.

best regards,
mike

Ivy Bridge-E at 22nm will replace SB-E afaik, but dunno the timetable. Maybe not until after Haswell launches. Scott or Jim may know more details.

    Thanks.

Every few years I jump in to see what's up with desktop stuff and I feel like a newbie all over again.

    Good times!

    Hey Mike,

FWIW, You won't be disappointed in the performance of the 3930k running at 4.5GHz.
You'll be able to run super dense mixes... at a 64-sample ASIO buffer size.

Thanks to both of you for helping me learn about this.

The truth is, I don't do super dense mixes but I do want to try out all the latest cpu gobbling efx while running at 64 samples and I am dreaming of getting to maybe try 32 for the first time ever.

It wasn't too long ago that I thought monitoring through a DAW was a fantasy. Now I'm hook, line and sinker.

    :-)

    You two are the best!

    Thanks.

    best regards,
    mike
