I like them a little better the next day after they've been worn in/stretched out a bit. Totally fresh they're a little too slippery and harsh... at least for electric.

Acoustic then yeah, that's pretty awesome but perhaps still a little too bright... and the chords go out of tune a bit as well so maybe after some obnoxious stretching and blasting out a couple hard ass six string strummers the joy comes.

Fresh sheets. Fresh girls. Fresh money. Fresh strawberries. A fresh outlook on life after surviving a heart attack.

But yeh, fresh strings are an inspiration.

Nope.

I like the Brazilian music and all that ... but I would never want to go back or even visit that place again! Specially when everyone thinks the rapes, and the street culture is cool and in the end ... it's pathetic, cruel, and in one phrase ... "welcome to the jungle" ... by people corrupted by ... forget it ... I don't even want to relive this in my head!

For clean I like new(er) strings, like Beepster, a day or 2 after I like better, I always string up last thing at night so they can not be so 'new' when I play them. I actually prefer quite a bit older for distorted tones, just sounds much better to me, really dislike distorted tones on really fresh strings . . . eww

Bits in the lead, on content he definitely has a different perspective.
Those who said "yes" are in contention for the booby prize.

Those who strayed from the topic will be given a "do over."

Very interesting about older strings and distorted sounds Mr. Richard Head.  I never thought about that.

I put a new set on my acoustic, and it made the guitar sound and play new again.

Yes though, in all honesty, there are some things better.

I used to have butter and peanut butter.  Now it's just peanut butter.  I do use butter to cook scrambled, bacon grease for OM.  And squirrel is best done in a crock pot or cast iron skillet.  Unless you're talking about squirrel ...

This flipping thread is crazy man

People wonder why I drive a jalopy …
It's because every time I go to the music store to buy guitar strings I feel sorry for all the homeless unloved guitars hanging there on the music store wall .
One of these days I might actually go in and buy a pack of strings …

Bit had it "close" to right.
Fresh Girls, fresh sheets, fresh strings; that's my order of preference.
Oh, and I prefer to change the strings myself, just a little "fetish" maybe?
