Is there some way to input synced lyrics when there is no notation?

Hi there, I use a laptop with Sonar X2 on for audio backing in live use and it would be handy to have lyrics syncing to the music as prompts should I forget any lyrics but try as I might I can't get this to happen. If Input one line then it's ok to drag to whatever point in the song is appropriate but the moment I input a second line it jumps to the start of the song. Any idea if there is a way to do this?

    Add rests.

    StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
    I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
