Is there something wrong with Take Management?

Hi guys, this might be pilot error, but is it just me who is getting very annoyed with the Take Management across multiple grouped takes?

Example:
1) I record a 10 track drum performance with "Group All Clips" enabled.
Now all those audio clips are grouped together as it should be.
2) I mute that group of audio clips and record a few more of the same drum performances on the same tracks, repeating the actions as above.

3) Now, when I want to audition older takes, I click on some of the muted takes and... all the different takes (muted and unmuted) are now highlighted. Now no matter what I do I can not get the Smart Tool to only select one of the take groups.

It's as if Sonar starts grouping ALL the different takes into one group, as opposed to keeping each performance as a separate group.

Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

Thanks for the input.

Maybe I don't understand what you're doing, here's a screen shot where I think I did what you did in 1 and 2, except it's only five tracks instead of 10. I can mute and unmute the groups individually with no problem (the group on the left is muted, the one on the right is unmuted).

If you want to mute and unmute individual clips within the group, select the Mute tool and ctrl-click to toggle an individual clip between those two states.
