Issue with Guitar rig 4 - Now Solved!

Hi guys some help needed if you could?

I have sonar power studio and the cakewalk/roland sp25 audio interface.  I recently got guitar rig 4 to use with my set up...oh im runing Vista 64 bit too.  Anyway I can get GR4 to run in stand alone just fine and I can get it to load up in soanr as either an audio fx or as a soft synth but the problem is I cant seem to get my guitars signal to pass through the GR4.

For audio FX ive selected echo on the track but for track properties it only lists GR4 outputs in the input field and my sp25 for the output filed, doing this I can hear my raw signal but it wont pass through GR4

As a Soft synth nothing happens at all.

does anybody know what im doing wrong and can gr4 be used at all with my current set up or should I return it?

I have sonar power studio and the cakewalk/roland sp25 audio interface.

Power Studio, I assume you mean this ? http://www.dv247.com/computer-hardware/cakewalk-firewire-sonar-powerstudio-660-audio-midi-interface--47860

If so what version of Sonar is in the bundle?

With recent version of Sonar it should work. There have been a few threads on the X1 forum on setting up GR4, you may want wade through that (not a trival task) as the solution has been given a couple of times.

    Hi,
yeah similar but with a USB interface.  Its actually called power studio but the manual it comes with states sonar 6 which I guess may be concidered old now I think 8+ is out?
i'll try reading the threads you suggested, thanks!

    Thanks for those.

Just to clarify for anybody reading

I now realise I cant use as soft synth as im not using midi.
If I record my dry guitar signal in sonar 6 with input echo on then put gr4 into the effects bin of that track nothing happens, no signal is routed through gr4 that I know of as none of its in/out meters move from zero.  If i look into track properties for input i have the following options: none/SP25 (my usb interface)/ GR4 outputs l/r/stereo   the output properties options are:none/ SP25/Master etc but no GR4

anybody know what im doing wrong?

Ideally i'd like to be able to record the guitar parts whilst listening to the live effects of GR4 to get a better feel but i'd happily settle for adding the effects after onto a dry signal but it just wont work for some reason.

GR4 stand alone works fine zero latency.

Unfortunatly I have only used Guitar Rig on VST and guitar samples so I have gone as fare as i can go. Hopefully the "Ancient Guitar Weilding Primates" will come to you aid shortly

First of all you should be able to hear as you play. It's kinda fundamental. Here's a walkthrough. Open Sonar. Open an audio track. Right Click in FX box and add Guitar Rig 4. Load a preset. Switch Input echo 'on'. Now adjust the Track Input to the input your guitar is plugged into from the dropdown list. Your Track Output should default to an audible output but you also get a dropdown list should you need to alter it.

Thanks for your help guys, ive now solved it.  Mr Handsome I was doing what you suggested but GR4 just didnt want to play ball, it wouldnt detect an input or output. If i played the track with Gr4 switched on it was silent but I'f i turned it off i'd hear the dry track.

How I solved it for those interested is this.
click the FX mixer tab at the bottom and insert GR4 on the desired track(with input echo on), that brought up GR4 but neither L or R selceted gave input. Click on the VST icon on GR4 to assign its properties, untick all put configure as plug in. Shut down GR4 and sonar.
Load back up re do fx bin insert GR4 input echo and choose a preset and Viola it now works.
No idea why it now works but it does (i didnt have use as soft synth selcected anyway in the VST properties before someone asks).

Works like a charm now....well maybe a bit bass heavy on all the sims but very low latency using wmd much better than stand alone asio drivers.
